University Development's purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary
The Senior Event Manager is one of several individuals within the University Development Events Office and is responsible for planning, production, and implementation of a variety of events as part of the University's philanthropic strategy. Examples of development events include campaign events, prospect engagement events, donor celebrations, gift announcements, board meetings, athletic development hospitality (Football and Basketball), regional development events and any additional events as defined by the Vice Chancellor for Development.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The Senior Event Manager must have previous event management experience and needs to be able to independently strategize, manage and execute their own portfolio of events. The individual must be self-motivated, proactive, creative and extremely organized with great attention to detail and able to multitask and prioritize a great number of tasks/projects each day often in a fast-paced environment interacting with a wide range of people. The ability to interact with donors, University leadership and elected officials with decorum, confidentiality and confidence is key to the role. This individual must have excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills. This individual must be able to work relatively independently on many projects. This individual must have the ability to research quickly and find needed locations and vendors. This position demands excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office toolsets, administrative skills, and willingness to stay on top of the latest upgrades. Must have a valid driver's license.

The role requires staffing events on nights and weekends, in additional to regular office hours. This can include off-site travel events when required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in direct event planning. Knowledge of the University and its physical campus. Experience working in a higher education institution or non-profit. Experience working with offices of Advancement, Development, Communications and University leadership in higher education preferred. Basic HTML and CSS skills as it pertains to email.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods of time and have the physical ability to lift items upwards of 30 - 50 pounds.
