SOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help homeless and poor individuals and families in Washington, DC. Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.

Compensation:

We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $78,644.00 to $83,172.60 and is commensurate with experience.

SOME, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Facilities Manager to join our Facilities Management team. This position will support our Northside portfolio, which includes sites located in the northern region of Washington, D.C.

Program Description: The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance scheduling and workload management using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other labor reporting tools. This role ensures that maintenance staff are effectively coordinated to maintain the reliability of building operations and infrastructure, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The Facilities Manager will also play an integral role in leveraging metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and staff performance.

Required: High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Property/ Facilities Management or equivalent building operation experience.

Preferred: Associate/Bachelor's Degree in a technical or engineering field with 5 years of experience in Property or Facilities Management

Required License/Certification: Driver's License

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (40 hours per week); This role will also require on-call support on a quarterly rotation.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:



  • Knowledge of work order management systems and basic database administration
  • Advanced knowledge of building and construction trades. Ability to manage small-scale renovation and repair projects
  • Knowledge of OSHA policies and safe work practices for facilities
  • Team player and motivator of others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. SharePoint experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.


Expected Contributions: Facility Services



  • Provides oversight of day-to-day building operations and ensures completion of regulatory inspections by vendors
  • Performs semi-annual and routine inspections of buildings to identify maintenance, repair, or project needs. Also identifies any potential training and development needs of staff based upon inspection of work quality and timeliness.
  • Monitors the aging of work tickets in accordance with service level agreements and works with the assignee and the management team on scheduling adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborates with Facilities Analyst on work order metrics, key performance indicators, and other reports
  • Informs clients of any needed scheduling updates due to a change in work scope or material delivery
  • Collaborates with Facilities Technical Manager and other Facilities team members to review Facility Incident reports for trends and supports the identification of Root Cause Analysis on any major facilities incidents.


Expected Contributions: Supervisory



  • Provides coaching and training of staff with work processes, policies, and procedures, and encourages opportunities for professional development.
  • Contributes to budget development, tracking, and projections, and uses sound judgment in the stewardship of SOME resources.
  • Identifies training opportunities for the team and assists in implementation.
  • Works with direct reports on team performance and provides support to other managers in the review of labor efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing procedures and processes for staff and encourage professional development.
  • Schedule direct reporting staff work hours, as needed, and monitor for time and attendance. Approve time cards and request leave.
  • Maintain professional documentation in support of the CQI program.
  • Provide regular feedback on direct reports' performance, conduct performance evaluations, and take steps for performance improvement, as needed.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. This position may be active and requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Work may be performed outside on facility grounds in heat or cold. Travel to work sites using your own transportation methods. Utilize your own tools for work projects and transport tools to the work site.
