Primary Purpose of the Organization: |
Fayetteville State University (FSU), is seeking a passionate educator and mentor for the position of Felton J. Capel Distinguished Professor in Performing and Fine Arts. This position is a Distinguished Professorship in the Performing and Fine Arts Department as a non-tenured position in the Visual Arts. The ideal candidate should have distinguished himself/herself as an outstanding artist, and/or faculty member. The minimum rank requirement is Associate Professor for the appointment. Late term/Highly experienced Assistant Professors who qualify for promotion to Associate at
FSU may also be considered. For visual arts candidates, the selected individual must be able to work with current art software/tools and be familiar with contemporary practices in the art field. The distinguished professor would enhance the knowledge base of a specific area for our students, faculty, and the community. Position Profile.

Primary Purpose of the Position: |
The Distinguished Professor is expected to be a passionate practitioner who demonstrates the ability to engage, inspire, and mentor students and integrate innovative pedagogical and technological approaches and multicultural perspectives into instructional methods. The ideal candidate will be able to foster collaborative teaching and encourage educational opportunities through diverse and innovative projects, curricula, and experiences. The faculty member is expected to foster a welcoming, equitable, and accessible learning environment for all students. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: |
- Master of Fine Arts (MFA)
- Undergraduate degree should be in the following disciplines. B.S. or B.A. or B.F.A in Music, Theatre, Dance or the Visual Arts required.
- Successful record as a creative professional in the performing or fine arts; strong interest in contributing to the intellectual, artistic, and professional development of undergraduate performing and fine arts majors; and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills expected.

Knowledge skills and abilities: |

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Must have a Master of Fine Arts in Music, Theatre, Dance or the Visual Arts represented in the Department of Performing and Fine Arts. All the areas will be considered.
- Priority consideration will be given to candidates with a degree in visual arts and expertise in digital animation.
