About the Job

The primary purpose of this temp/casual position (14 hour or less per week) is to provide research and technical support across one or more project objectives related to the public health alerts, roadmaps vaccine initiative, chronic wasting disease, and other proposals of interest, depending on the applicant's experience and background. Primary tasks include: Reviewing incoming potential reports / notification, editing of written content, analyzing, and compiling from a variety of sources, reviewing material / documentation & providing high level comments, and assisting in content and proposal development.

This is a 14-hour or less per week position.

Qualifications

Qualifications
* An MD, DVM, or PhD in epidemiology or related field
* Masters in Public Health or related field.
* At least 25 years of practical, hands-on experience in epidemiologic research in an academic setting or in public health practice at the state, national, or international level.
* In-depth understanding of public health principles and practice and the public health system in the United States at the federal, state, and local levels.
* Strong analytic research skills, including conducting background research using scientific journals and web-based resources
* A working understanding of infectious diseases and related topics of major public health importance
* Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
* Ability to work effectively under time constraints
* Strong editorial, written, and oral communications skills
* Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
Position Responsibilities
* Review incoming potential reports / notifications
* Review final drafts considered as ready for release and recommending release / publication
* Assist in efforts to solicit or otherwise recruit submissions from key stakeholders
* Assist in responding to comments / questions from readers and others external to CIDRAP regarding reports.
* Monitor infectious diseases developments and trends
* Participating in ad hoc meetings with staff and other team members while considering and editing submissions
* Assume other duties as assigned.

The mission of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) is to prevent illness and death from targeted infectious disease threats through research and the translation of scientific information into real-world, practical applications, policies, and solutions. CIDRAP has a strong Web presence through the CIDRAP website and CIDRAP News. Each business day professionals worldwide turn to CIDRAP News for up-to-date information supported by analysis, insights, and perspective not available anywhere else. The website also contains a range of resources on infectious disease-related topics. CIDRAP also addresses a variety of public health policy issues related to prevention and control of infectious diseases, include vaccine-related issues, emerging infectious disease threats, development of R&D roadmaps, antimicrobial resistance and stewardship, and bioterrorism/pandemic/emergency preparedness.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $100-$150/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
