VP, Corporate Controller


Reports to: Chief Financial Officer


Job Objective: The VP, Corporate Controller is in charge of ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and dependability of the company's financial records and reporting. This involves overseeing all traditional and core accounting functions, ensuring adherence to financial regulations, establishing and maintaining a robust internal control over financial reporting compliance program, and playing a key role from a standardization of process perspective, in partnership with SAP subject matter experts, in the Company's successful migration to SAP. The role is responsible for making sure that all transactions are correctly recorded and timely in the company's books and records.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties requested by management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon location size and operation.




  • In partnership with the CFO, ensure that the organization has best-in-class financial accounting processes and systems to achieve organizational current and future goals, while mitigating financial and operational risk.
  • Serve as a strategic financial business partner to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and other key executives to help make sound business decisions.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting to ensure efficient and accurate recording in the Company's books and records of all transactions, managing a globally distributed team.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards, including the possibility of a public offering as an exit strategy and therefore a SOX compliant program in that case.
  • Work with current accounting and finance leaders to coordinate with external auditors to ensure an efficient and effective annual audit process with a goal of a clean opinion. Lead relevant portion of Audit Committee meetings, own relationships with auditors
  • Drive accounting systems and process standardization to progress efficiency company wide.
  • Review and help prepare financial statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information to management, shareholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure the preparation and analysis of all financial reports meet the needs of the organization and comply with regulatory reporting requirements and global regulations.
  • Establish and maintain controls to safeguard assets; document and recommend improvements to internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of evolving accounting standards and regulatory requirements to ensure internal control compliance.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team.
  • Drive meaningful accounting process transformation and automation to increase efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Play an integral role in the migration of legacy systems to SAP, ensuring the accounting/finance organization's requirements are met, and participating in testing and validation activities alongside other digital transformation efforts to optimize accounting systems to prepare timely and accurate Consolidated Balance Sheets, P&L and Cash Flow Statements and other management reporting needs.
  • In partnership with the CFO, serve as the technical accounting decision-maker for the company.
  • Serve on the finance leadership team and collaborate with CFO and fellow leaders on functional and people priorities.
  • Participate in strategic financial planning and budgeting processes.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team to enhance performance.
  • Develop and enforce accounting policies and controls, ensuring SOX compliance.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA certification is required; MBA and/or other certifications are preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with a proven track record of success in increasingly senior positions.
  • Experience leading the accounting function within a high-growth and/or private-equity backed company is highly valued, demonstrating an understanding of scaling financial operations and adapting to evolving business needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations (especially ERP systems like SAP) and process improvements, and establishing and maintaining SOX compliance programs.
  • Deep knowledge of technical accounting best practices and requirements, including detailed knowledge of US GAAP and SOX requirements.
  • Experience with SAP implementations or migrations is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to build accounting processes for a fast-growing organization.
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience in organizing and prioritizing project sets based on substance, urgency, and capacity. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of traveling, up to 30% of the time.


Preferred:

  • Experience as a VP or Chief Accounting Officer.
  • Experience presenting to the audit committee and/or board of directors.
  • Experience with companies that are highly acquisitive.
  • Experience with finance transformation projects and implementing new accounting systems, *particularly SAP.*
  • Experience with SOX readiness and compliance programs.
