Position Summary: This position is responsible to wash, service, perform minor repairs, assist mechanics when needed to repair vehicles and/or equipment, pick up/deliver parts, supplies, equipment, and vehicles as needed. This position is required to work irregular and overtime hours and respond to callouts when needed.

Position Responsibilities



  • To perform all duties assigned while assisting garage personnel in the service/maintenance of company vehicles, equipment, and general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain all company vehicles and equipment in top operating condition and as best appearance as possible.
  • Service, wash, and perform minor repairs to all company vehicles/equipment as needed. Attend training programs when possible, to expand knowledge in the mechanical field.
  • Maintain fleet vehicles/equipment in top shape and efficiently assist mechanics when needed.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies/parts, vehicles and equipment of all types from and to any area.
  • Safe and proper operation of all company vehicles when driving and provide efficient parts/supplies access for equipment repair during normal operating hours and emergencies.
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, productive, and effective working relationship with customers and personnel at all levels in all departments, including the department to which you are assigned.
  • Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, effective understanding and completion of tasks as scheduled and/or assigned. Provide assistance to customers, both internal and external, to promote a professional, courteous, and cooperative atmosphere. Customer satisfaction is our primary goal and must receive priority.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
  • This position takes direction from the lead mechanic and mechanics for the repair and maintenance of all LCEC vehicles/equipment
  • Complete all work in conformance with LCEC's safety rules and guidelines and all applicable manufacturers, governmental/state regulations.
  • Maintains a neat and tidy work environment; assisting with daily bay cleanup is expected to keep work area safe and ready for daily use.
  • Work in emergency storm situations (i.e., hurricanes) and work long hours (>12 hours per day) for many continuous days/weeks as needed.


Education



  • High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)


Experience



  • 2+ to 5 Years experience in the area of lubrication, oil changes, vehicle washing, and minor repairs to cars, trucks, and off-road equipment. (Required)
  • 2+ to 5 Years experienced in the use of transmission/differential fluids and solvents. (Preferred)


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance hand tools, power tools, and hydraulic jacks. (Required)
  • Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate within Windows environment to create, open and close files or applications using a mouse and use email. (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications



  • Class A CDL License; Valid Florida Commercial Driver's License or must obtain within 120 days of employment. (Required)


Additional Licenses and Certifications



  • Vocational training in auto mechanics with certificate (Preferred)

STORM DUTY REQUIREMENTS.... Responding to storms may be considered a condition of employment: LCEC provides critical services to our community during an emergency. Employees may be required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our LCEC members. Employees are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's guidelines and procedures.
