Summary of Position:

The Associate Scientist II is a hands-on laboratory position within the Analytical Sciences group, responsible for the development, optimization, qualification and transfer of analytical methods to support biologic programs from early development through commercialization. This position focuses primarily on chromatography and electrophoresis-based physicochemical methods.

Responsibilities and Job Duties



  • Design and conduct experiments to develop HPLC, UPLC and capillary electrophoresis-based analytical methods for biologics.
  • Qualify and transfer analytical methods to QC for release and stability testing of drug substance and drug product.
  • Conduct experiments, interpret data, identify relevant questions and design subsequent experiments.
  • Perform sample testing in a timely manner to support process development, process characterization, analytical comparability, and critical quality attribute (CQA) assessment.
  • Author SOPs, technical protocols and reports.
  • Ensure timely and proper documentation, including data organization and laboratory notebooks.
  • Present study data and conclusions at internal and external meetings.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation; escalate unresolved issues to the manager and assist in resolution planning.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and processes under the guidance of department leadership.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related life sciences with 2+ years of relevant experience

OR

Master's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related life sciences with 0+ years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Hands-on experience developing and qualifying physicochemical assays for biologics.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting HPLC, UPLC, CE, cIEF instruments independently or with limited supervision
  • Ability to accurately follow established procedures and analyze data with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to independently design experiments for routine assignments or under guidance for new assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across functions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present data in team or department settings.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Biotech industry experience in developing, qualifying and transferring methods



    • Familiar with ICH guidelines and regulatory expectations for method development, qualification and validation
    • Experience with automation of sample preparation and analytical workflows



Additional Information

The annual rate of pay for this position ranges from $72,100 - $110,000. For non-exempt roles, and according to applicable regulations, there may be the possibility for overtime pay. This role is eligible for the Company's discretionary bonus and discretionary equity incentives. The annual pay rate range is described in good faith, and the Company believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. The Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and this range may be modified in the future. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable under the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans.
