Summary of Position:

We are seeking a highly innovative and motivated scientist to join the Research Department as a Senior Director, Translational Bioinformatics. This individual will establish and lead a fully integrated function that applies advanced computational analytics and data science to support translational oncology objectives for our ADC and immuno-oncology pipeline. This will include definition of PK/PD relationships, optimal target populations/patient segmentation, predictive biomarkers, safety biomarkers, and mechanisms of drug resistance/combination strategies. This role will foster cross-functional collaboration with pre-clinical and clinical functions and data management, as well as with all Translational Medicine functions including translational strategy, biomarker discovery, pathology, flow cytometry, and toxicology.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and lead a Translational Bioinformatics function within the Translational Medicine organization that provides cross-functional support to translational/pre-clinical objectives and deliverables
  • Apply advanced analytic algorithms including ML/AI, to elucidate mechanistic and clinically actionable insights into tumor biology and response to immunotherapy and ADCs
  • In collaboration with pathology and biomarker functions, build expertise and internal analytic capabilities in spatial analysis, including spatial transcriptomics and mIF
  • Define and implement streamlined operational workflows to ensure efficient translational data handling, including but not limited to data import, QC processes, method development and standardization, and criteria for internal/external presentation
  • Develop SOPs for translational data analysis that incorporate the use of both internal and external data sources
  • Participate in business development activities, including establishing and maintaining good collaborative alliance/academic relations
  • Participate in and serve in a leadership role for company-wide scientific initiatives
  • Promote external visibility through presentations at scientific meetings and through scientific publications


Education and Experience



  • PhD in computational biology, data sciences, statistics or related field
  • Twelve (12) years of related experience in industry/academia with focus on oncology drug development
  • A minimum of six years of experience supervising scientific employees


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Deep knowledge base in tumor biology and applications to oncology drug development with demonstrated ability to develop, apply and implement bioinformatic strategies
  • Broad and thorough understanding of statistical principles and clinical trial methodology
  • A demonstrable track record and/or primary interest in conducting computational biology-based research, including staying current with the latest developments in bioinformatics and computational biology.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Bash, and/or Perl.
  • Ability to develop innovative/creative statistical/technical solutions to complex problems, including the ability to write custom code and scripts to automate analysis, processing, and data visualization
  • Ability to work with large datasets, to develop and maintain databases and data management systems, familiarity with large-scale NGS data analysis and genomics databases
  • Passionate about collaborative, at-scale computational biology projects, including bioinformatic data interpretation, reporting and data management
  • Self-motivated, detailed oriented, and able to distill complex issues and clearly articulate innovative solutions in a team environment
  • Excellent scientific communication skills, verbally and in writing, in informal 1-1 settings, team meetings, and formal seminars; Effective communication is essential and includes presentations at cross-functional teams, internal review committees, external conferences, collaborators, and partners in addition to writing reports and collaborative scientific publication
  • Demonstrated learning agility, adaptability, collaborative skills, strong influencing skills and delivering results through teamwork
  • Strong desire to contribute to our mission of translating basic science and expertise into meaningful, long-lasting benefit for patients
  • Recognized as an expert internally and/or externally in an area of computational biology
  • Demonstrates leadership and effective management skills

Additional Information

The annual rate of pay for this position ranges from $229,600 - $350,000. For non-exempt roles, and according to applicable regulations, there may be the possibility for overtime pay. This role is eligible for the Company's discretionary bonus and discretionary equity incentives. The annual pay rate range is described in good faith, and the Company believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. The Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and this range may be modified in the future. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable under the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company's sole discretion, consistent with the law.
