Hourly Research Assistant, Pipe Scale Analysis

Position Summary:
Assistant
to Ph.D. student analyzing harvested pipe scale to determine the effectiveness
of phosphate corrosion control strategies.

Essential Functions:
-Cutting, brushing, and sieving to prepare
powders from lead service line (LSL) pipes harvested from a NJ utility.
-The
goal is to produce pipe cross sections and scale powders for analysis by visual
and analytical chemistry techniques.

Additional Functions:
-Assisting with photography and analytical
chemistry analysis with ICP-MS, XRD, SEM, as necessary.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Laboratory experience.
-At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Analytical chemistry experience.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the hourly rate/range for this position is $25.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
