The University of Iowa Health Care department of Rehab Therapies is looking for a PRN Senior Music Therapist. Classification Title:PRN Senior Music Therapist Department:Rehab Therapies Salary:$22.51/hour to Commensurate Percent of Time:100% Type of Position:Temporary:A staff member may serve in temporary status in a continuous appointment for no more than one year to meet an emergency or temporary need of the University. Employees in this classification will not be eligible for University Benefits. Coverage areasinclude adult and pediatric inpatient psychiatry units, psychiatric partial hospitalization programs, pediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric medical/surgical and hematology/oncology units, and adult inpatient palliative care. Position Responsibilities: * Provides quality patient care including evaluation, treatment planning and documentation appropriate for patient condition and age. * Provides individual and group music therapy services to hospitalized behavioral health child, adolescent and adult patients. * Provides individual music therapy services to patients and families as part of the adult palliative care service. * Ability to work independently while maintaining an interdisciplinary team focus. * Provide patient coverage in additional clinical areas as needed. Education Required * A Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to the practice of Music Therapy Experience Requirements
- Reasonable (1-3 years) experience as a Music Therapist in an acute care hospital setting with a high degree of understanding and skill in one or more areas of assigned responsibility.
- Demonstrated clinical education abilities and leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certifications
- Current certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) as a Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC)
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience facilitating goal oriented music therapy interventions.
- Experience with music therapy evaluation, treatment planning and documentation
- Demonstrated prioritization in patient care and effective time management
- Ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Experience with basic counseling skills, behavioral management, grief & loss, actively dying, anxiety, depression or pain
