Transportation Manager

The Transportation Manager at QED is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the CDC transportation deliveries of orders to customers, ensuring a best-in-class customer service experience. This role involves managing the transportation function, including hiring, training, and developing staff, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining effective communication across teams.

What you'll do:



  • Manage the Branch drivers along with routing staff
  • Hire, train, and develop direct reports
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA/DOT/FMCSA Regulations
  • Schedule and assign work to employees, providing necessary materials, equipment, and documents
  • Oversee all equipment, trucks, and related preventative maintenance schedules
  • Monitor scheduled daily deliveries to meet customer time commitments
  • Ensure timely deliveries with no damage to products according to Driver SOP training
  • Conduct annual certification of all drivers on delivery methods
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers, warehouse staff, salespersons, and customers
  • Work with lease providers for various reports, such as mileage and VCR reports
  • Schedule daily/weekly meetings with drivers
  • Monitor and review routing configurations for cost control
  • Provide safety methods training and conduct daily safety briefings
  • Partner with Sales leadership to foster collaboration between sales and operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align transportation efforts with business objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned



What you'll bring:



  • Extensive success in a logistics leadership role
  • Experience in supply chain, ideally within electrical distribution
  • Strong data analysis skills and understanding of logistics system processes
  • Familiarity with electrical industry concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to develop close working relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • In-depth knowledge of QED computer systems, Eclipse, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate, mentor, motivate, and lead logistics associates
  • Team player aligned with QED's core values and beliefs
