Rotterdam Service Center Technician Position

Location: Rotterdam, NY

Role Summary/Purpose

The Rotterdam Service Center Technician will work as a member of a work group to meet assigned objectives.

You will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. Responsibilities will include fabrication of electrical panels, MCC's and circuit breaker upgrades, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance. You will also support maintenance shutdowns and field work for the Empire District.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at all times.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and conduct work activities in compliance with all safety policies
  • Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable products
  • Be responsible for hands-on execution of panel builds, breaker upgrades, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
  • Work under direction supporting Empire District maintenance shutdowns.
  • Perform administrative functions such as writing test data sheets, ordering materials, securing quotations, time sheet, and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis.
  • Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of company funds. Protect the company's capital investments by properly safeguarding and maintaining that equipment for which responsible
  • Make contributions to the continued development and refinement of the Rotterdam Service Center.
  • Engineering Standards and Procedures as they apply to designated panel builds, upgrades, maintenance and conduct work efforts in accordance thereof
  • Strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction in all transactions and relationships.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering technologies (OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of technician experience)
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver's license. ABB will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
