Description

Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. Summary:Trident is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to support the business by providing a variety of specialized services within Accounts Payable and by ensuring accurate and timely invoice and payment processing. The ideal candidate is motivated, curious, results-oriented, and committed to providing outstanding customer service every day.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Reviews, verifies, and troubleshoots all incoming invoices as assigned
  • Posts invoices as assigned including 3-way match
  • Responds to vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assists in month-end closing activities
  • Ensures compliance to corporate policy and department procedures
  • Maintains files and documentation in accordance with invoice/payment guidelines and generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Maintains internal controls as required per company policy
  • Maintains a high level of productivity
  • Participate in or manage assigned special projects
  • Collaborates with peers, leaders and business partners to ensure a successful outcome in all assignments

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other responsibilities, as assigned
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

This is a non-exempt position with a hourly pay rate range of $23 to $34 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years Accounts Payable in a medium to large company
  • Two-year Associate Degree in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures including financial chart of accounts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Prior experience working with SAP

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities
  • Basic accounting principles knowledge

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills

Work Environment

This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

In-office time takes place in a typical office environment: temperature controlled with adequate lighting and moderate noise. While remote, employees must provide appropriate home office space.

Physical/Mental demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time at a desk. Frequently required to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee will occasionally stand, walk, and may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision for frequent use of a computer.
