Description

Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. Summary:

The Food Safety Quality Assurance Grader (FSQA) with conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of the production processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Grading Product to the USDC Part 5 Standard and keeps up with changes to the Part 5 Standard as they become public

  • Prepares reports and documents as a part of grading to ready for submission for the USDC review and internal review

  • Maintain Defect Handouts and other aids for FSQA and Production to ensure efficient and effective fish processing. Will gather photos and other information to create new material

  • Assumes FSQA Tech role in times of need or as assigned by management

  • Conducts standardized tests on products and materials to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications and international, federal and state regulations.

  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with HACCP standards and company policies and procedures.

  • Records test data such as weights, temperatures, moisture content, qualities and quantities inspected or graded.

  • Applies proper acceptance/rejection criteria and marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status.

  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to Production/QA Management.

  • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities to production.

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $26 to $31 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Food Safety Quality Assurance.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of one year of experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams

Preferred education and experience

  • HAACP Certification

  • Seafood Industry specific experience

  • 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance in a seafood processing facility.

  • Supervising other employees' experience preferred.

  • Additional experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
