Catholic Charities Maine's Behavioral Health Network is expanding! We're proud to oversee the new Freedom House, a 24/7 residence located on State Street in Portland. This safe and supportive home serves women who have experienced chronic homelessness, substance use disorders, domestic violence, incarceration and other challenges.

We are actively recruiting Part-Time and Full-Time Residential Mentors for day, evening, and overnight coverage to join our team and help launch this impactful program.

About the Role: As a Residential Mentor, you'll provide direct support, mentorship, and structure to residents facing behavioral health challenges. You'll work closely with a compassionate clinical team to implement personalized care plans, assist with life skill development, and create a safe, nurturing environment. Whether you're helping someone navigate daily routines or responding calmly in a moment of crisis, your presence will make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and supervise residents in a residential setting.
  • Help individuals develop practical life skills and achieve personal goals.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to implement care plans.
  • Facilitate group activities that promote personal growth and well-being.
  • Use crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a positive, team-based environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related human services field.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.
  • Experience with documentation and electronic health record systems.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles and behavioral health best practices.
  • Bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse populations.
