Salary/Compensation Statement: |
- Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $44,658 - $65,492
- New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years' relevant experience and education.

- Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Position Purpose: |
The facilities coordinator/shop manager ensures a safe, effective learning environment for students while providing support to faculty members involving a wide variety of responsibilities in alignment with
Lane's Vision, Mission, and Values. |
Essential Functions: |
- Conducts all tasks with an emphasis on shop safety, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment, including:
- Implementing and enforcing safety procedures and regulations in the shop.
- Supervising students in the safe use of equipment and materials.
- Repair shop equipment.
- Establishes and follows daily/weekly/monthly/annual maintenance schedules that provides for the safe use of machines, equipment, and tools.
- Identifies and resolves production and process issues that arise in the shop.
- Orders, receives, organizes, and prepares materials, equipment, tools, and supplies for shop use in a timely fashion.
- Receives, prepares, and inventories in-kind donations of equipment and materials.
- Keeps detailed inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials and communicates status (including information on parts, cost estimates, and timing of repairs) to instructional faculty.
- Trains student assistants in equipment use and proper shop procedures.
- Systematically and traceably checks-out equipment, supplies and materials to students.
- Manages work orders with campus facilities.
- Works closely with faculty to determine instructor needs and provides specialized instructional support accordingly.
- Assists students with projects.
- Serves as liaison to the general public for the department.
- Develops and maintains support and referral networks.
- Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement: |
Reports to the Division Dean. Welding Faculty will establish general and specific priorities for shop-related assignments. Work is regularly reviewed for quality.
This position may be responsible for assigning tasks, setting priorities, and providing training to student assistants, volunteers, and hourly employees. |
Physical Demands/Working Environment: |
This position works in shop lab and lecture environments. May be exposed to usual office, industry, education, and commercial working conditions that include noises, interruptions, telephones, and visitors. Working conditions may include exposure to dangerous equipment and hazardous materials. This position requires that an employee be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Working conditions requires manual dexterity and visual acuity. May perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require lifting and transporting materials up to fifty (50) pounds. Work safely. |
