Job Title: Network Engineer

Clearance Level: Active DoD - Interim Secret
Required Certification(s):
* Must be a U.S. citizen and possess at minimum an Interim Secret clearance.
* Must be able to obtain an IAT-II certification within the first 90 days of hire.
* CCNA withing 6 months of hire
SUMMARY
PM MC provides integrated system-of-system solutions to Army and Joint warfighters, whose products include computer hardware, software, communications and network management infrastructure. The Mission Command Support Center (MCSC), under PM MC, is an integral part of the Program Executive Office - Command, Control, & Communications-Network (PEO-C3N) capability portfolio, providing a centralized capability to deploy, integrate, monitor, test, manage, modernize, evaluate and sustain fielded and enterprise-hosted MC capabilities. The MCSC mission is one of constant change and adaptation, always responding to enable deployment of new capabilities, while assuring current capabilities are at an optimal state of readiness throughout globally deployed and networked assets.
The Network Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, operations, maintenance, and management of all network components. This includes hardware (e.g., hubs, bridges, switches, multiplexers, routers, cables, proxy servers, and protective distributor systems) and software that permit the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information to support the security of information and information systems. Network Engineers configure and optimize network firewalls, routers, and switches (e.g., higher-level protocols, tunneling, etc.). Diagnose and quickly resolve network connectivity issues. Expand or modify the network infrastructure to serve new purposes or improve workflow. Implement new system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards. Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., IOS, firmware, etc.). Install or replace network firewalls, routers, and switches. Integrate new systems into existing network architecture. Monitor network capacity and performance. Perform tuning of network security devices as directed by engineering. Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties. Provide feedback on network requirements, including network architecture and infrastructure. Test and maintain network infrastructure including software and hardware devices. Produce detailed network diagrams accurately depicting network architecture. Document and report all network changes.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Analyzing network traffic capacity and performance characteristics.
* Configuring and using hardware-based computer protection components (e.g., hardware firewalls, servers, routers, as appropriate).
* Configuring and using network protection components (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, network intrusion detection systems). Implementing, maintaining, and improving established network security practices. Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting LAN and WAN components such as routers, firewalls, and switches.
* Protecting a network against malware. Securing network communications.
* Use network management tools to analyze network traffic patterns (e.g., simple network management protocol).
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications
* Must be a U.S. citizen and possess at minimum an Interim Secret clearance.
* Must be able to obtain an IAT-II certification within the first 90 days of hire.
* CCNA withing 6 months of hire
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
* Must be a U.S. citizen and possess at minimum an Interim Secret clearance.
* Must be able to obtain an IAT-II certification within the first 90 days of hire and obtain a CCNA within 6 months of hire
* 3+ years of experience as a network administrator
* Knowledge of IT security principles and methods, such as firewalls, demilitarized zones, and encryption
* Knowledge of remote access tech concepts, Voice over IP (VoIP) and web filtering technologies.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
* In-depth understanding of network architectures as well as interconnected systems.
* Possess a strong understanding of networking concepts and interactions with systems.
* Ability to function under changing deadlines with no supervision and ensure that multiple tasks are prioritized accordingly.
