As the Director of Resort Maintenance at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, you will play a key role in delivering unforgettable experiences by directing and managing the Engineering department to ensure all buildings, equipment, and infrastructure remain in good repair with minimal downtime. You will oversee daily repairs, preventative maintenance, and continually work to improve engineering services through enhanced communication with guests and resort managers.

What you will be doing:

  • Direct and inspect the daily work of Engineers, Painters, Carpenter, and Engineering Admin to ensure productivity, quality, and deadlines are met.
  • Complete weekly work schedules and process daily payroll edits/reports in a timely manner, ensuring payroll remains within budgeted and forecasted guidelines.
  • Counsel and discipline associates as needed and conduct performance appraisals, including skills testing for Engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Manage and direct operations of the Waste Water Treatment Plant, including all necessary licenses and permits.
  • Develop and oversee a measurable preventive maintenance (PM) program for guest rooms, public/event spaces, kitchen equipment, HVAC, pools, ice machines, emergency generators, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and roll out projects as directed, maintaining communication with other managers for updates.
  • Regularly interact with guests, contractors, vendors, peers, and corporate executives.
  • Assist department staff as needed with troubleshooting, regular maintenance, and repairs; conducts walk-through inspections of all areas.
  • Ensure engineers are properly trained in and using the HotSoS work ticket system; create and manage the department budget, including capital expenditures, and provides consulting support to Timber Ridge hotel engineering as needed.

What we are looking for:

  • Prior supervisory and/or management experience in a similar environment required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents to include: Blueprints/Schematics, Procedural manuals, Budgets/Financial Statements, OSHA standards such as LockOut/TagOut, MSDS, etc.
  • Possess ability to troubleshoot, repair and/or maintain:
    • Physical building to include all FF&E
    • A/C and refrigeration equipment
    • Electrical systems
    • Mechanical equipment (i.e. motors, starters, pumps, fans, etc.)
    • Kitchen Equipment
    • Plumbing and drains
    • Pneumatic and electronic systems and controls
    • Fire Alarm and Life Safety equipment
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Analytical skills in order to be able to assess and identify problems and then implement solutions.
  • Must be able to use and understand hand and power tools.
  • Ability to represent the company in a courteous and well-groomed manner.
  • Must have computer proficiency including all Microsoft Office suite platforms (Outlook, Word, Excel, Notes, etc.) as well as Purchasing System (Birchstreet) and Rapid Response Communication and Equipment Preventative Maintenance system (HotSOS). Also able to manage Building Management System (BMS) - Grand Geneva Resort currently utilizes Johnson Controls Metasys BMS.
