ENGINEER IV - ENVIRONMENTAL

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY - The Engineer IV - Environmental is an experienced Environmental professional who will lead and oversee our solid waste operations and support other environmental compliance programs (i.e. Title V, NPDES, etc.).This role is responsible for the management of industrial waste, including our waste transfer station, recycling programs, bulk storage pads, and waste diversion initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ENGINEER IV - ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Ensure that all operations are efficient, sustainable, cost-effective, and fully compliant with environmental regulations, sustainability initiatives and our ISO 140001 programs.
  • Oversee the acceptance, treatment, storage, and disposal of various waste streams, conduct daily Title V inspections, and support NPDES compliance at the water treatment plant.
  • Acts as a key contributor.
  • Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends best practices in own function.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
  • Possess developed depth and breadth of expertise in own function.
  • Works independently with guidance on only the most complex tasks.
  • Anticipates customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies fresh solutions.
  • May lead functional teams or projects.
  • Leads others to resolve complex problems in non-standard situations and develop creative solutions.
  • Ensures a safe workplace.
  • Promotes ways to improve the quality of life and protect the environment in the communities in which the Company does business.
  • Effectively manages projects or teams, including coordination of resources outside of their individual area.
  • Forecasts and plans resource requirements for projects or teams.
  • Monitors and controls costs for own work and may manage costs/budgets for large projects or areas.
  • Collaborate with EH&S and operations teams to develop waste minimization strategies.
  • Maintain documentation for permits, inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee coordination of contractors and vendors for waste transport and disposal.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to site personnel.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE ENGINEER IV - ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of treatment technologies, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient with Environmental Management Systems (EMS), regulatory reporting, operational planning, and relevant software.
  • Hazwoper 40 Hour Certification is a plus.
  • DOT Hazmat Ground Transportation Certification
  • EPA Method 9 Certification with required recertification.
  • Strong understanding of solid waste management practices, with ability to evaluate and improve efficiency, compliance, and safety.
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental regulations (EPA, OSHA, Title V, NPDES).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a production environment.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments; PPE may be required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
