Internal Communications Specialist Under the general oversight of the Director of Communications and the direct supervision of the Public Affairs Manager, the Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for developing DWIHN communications within the organization and the network. They will also assist with collaborating employee engagement activities and events. A general list of duties, qualifications, and experience includes, but is not limited to: PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and update content for the DWIHN website from staff
- Develop content for DWIHN Staff Newsletters
- Supports DWIHN Master Event Calendar
- Manage and update the organization's community outreach calendar
- Manage monthly DWIHN Marketing/Volunteer Team meetings
- Assist with internal staff awards and nominations
- Update DWIHN's intranet content, including graphics and monthly updates
- Assists with planning and managing DWIHN's employee appreciation events
- Maintain DWIHN media library (photos and videos)
- Assist in creating Board presentations
- Maintain staff list for Employee Notification System
- Coordinate with HR on promoting employee initiatives and programs
- Provide support to the Public Affairs Manager
- Provide support to Marketing and Communications as described by the Department Director
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA'S)
- Knowledge of communications principles and practices
- Knowledge of content production (copywriting, photography, graphic design, videography)
- Advanced proficiency in writing
- Intermediate knowledge of photography, camera, and smartphone utilization
- Assessment skills
- Project management skills
- Public Speaking and Presentation skills
- Social media experience in creating and posting on all platforms
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, Canva, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to work with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, economically, and socially diverse population
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with a major in journalism, communications, public relations, and/or marketing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) years' experience in public relations with direct contact with media outlets and actively engaged in community outreach.
- Qualified candidates will be asked to submit writing samples.
- Demonstrated high level of proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Publisher, Social Media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
REQUIRED LICENSE(S):
- A valid State of Michigan Driver's License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed in an office setting. However, travel may be necessary to attend meetings, health fairs, press conferences, and other events outside of the office setting.
