Position Summary

Shipping & Receiving team members unload and receive deliveries of various types including the shipment of final products manufactured.

Responsibilities

  • Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices, and other shipping documents.
  • Receives merchandise - checks and signs delivery slips and assists with unloading as necessary.
  • Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods.
  • Accepts or returns merchandise according to established company procedures.
  • Organizes distribution and shipping of merchandise. Makes necessary verifications against documents. Handles customer pick-ups.
  • May operate forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods.
  • Maintains internal record-keeping systems.
  • Contacts resource people for various information. Contacts transport companies and suppliers to expedite, trace or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  • Prepares identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Knows safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and coatings.
  • Knows proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Personal Attributes and Experience

  • Forklift certified, ability to be certified or agree to be certified. Stand up and sit down.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be regular, dependable in attendance and willing to devote necessary effort for timely completion of tasks.
  • Must be committed to company beliefs, mission, and objectives.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to accomplish the objective and fulfill the mission.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills necessary to work courteously and effectively with a diverse group of team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • Must have the ability to handle routine and non-routine situations.
  • Must be self-managed; assertive and a self-starter; and possess and make effective decisions.
  • Must be able to work under stress and time pressures while handling multiple concurrent projects or tasks.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts.
  • Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around
  • Adhere to strict safety, quality, and fulfillment production standard
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • May be required to travel between buildings as necessary.

Work Environment

Working location may not be set from day to day. You may be asked to work at different operations throughout the working day. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
