Summary

The Supply Chain Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting the overall supply chain competence strategy. This position will assist with cross-functional supply chain tasks, including planning, purchasing, and shipping/receiving operations. The role will support the planning and completion of cycle counts, assist with necessary documentation for shipping, and provide support to the planners as needed. This position will also be responsible for purchasing consumables and KanBan items at both sites, supporting the buyer in ensuring an efficient supply chain. The role offers room for growth and cross-training across all areas of the supply chain, ensuring seamless operations when team members are on vacation or out of the office. Additionally, this position may take on a supporting role of digital evolution within the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  1. Supply Chain Support


    • Assist in the coordination of supply chain initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall strategic goals.
    • Provide logistical support to planning, purchasing, and shipping/receiving teams.
    • Support cycle count planning and completion. Lead validation and CI initiatives when gaps are found in the counts
    • Help prepare and organize necessary documentation and paperwork for shipping and receiving activities.
    • Cross-train in all supply chain areas (planning, buying, and shipping/receiving) to ensure operational continuity during employee absences.
    • Provide ad hoc support to planners as needed, scope to be determined.


  2. Purchasing Support


    • Responsible for purchasing consumables and KanBan items at both sites.
    • Responsible for negotiating and governing supply contracts with vendors (ie: water contracts, uline contracts, waste management contracts etc)
    • Support the buyer with procurement activities and ensuring timely availability of materials.


  3. Digital Evolution and AI Integration


    • Lead the digital transformation within the supply chain team, focusing on the integration of AI tools and technologies.
    • Work with the team to explore and implement digital solutions that enhance supply chain operations, including forecasting, data analysis, and process automation.


  4. SIOP Support


    • Provide support to the SIOP process by pulling and organizing data for reports and supplier scorecards.
    • Assist in ensuring that accurate data is available for planning and decision-making within the SIOP framework.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between supply chain and SIOP initiatives.


  5. Process Improvement and Workflow Documentation


    • Lead the development and documentation of supply chain workflows and processes.
    • Support supply chain teams in identifying and implementing process improvements.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:



  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and supply chain software (ERP systems, etc.).
  • Experience or interest in AI tools and digital solutions in supply chain management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.



Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field required
  • Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Two (2)+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or related fields preferred.



Physical Demands - OFFICE / TRAVEL




  • Standing/Sitting: 30/70 %
  • Walking/Bending/Stooping: 25%
  • Lifting Requirements: 25 pounds
  • Travel by air, rail, auto (5% of time)
  • Work in manufacturing area, QA lab and office areas
  • Exposures - Odors, Fumes, Noise, Chemicals, Temperature, Vision strain, Moving parts.
