The Medical Education Department is hiring three part time Clinical Assistant Professors to support UI Health, COM, and DME's teaching and professional development initiatives. Specifically, these faculty roles are focused on teaching improvements in quality assurance and patient safety. The faculty members teach current students in the Masters of Patient Safety Leadership program. In addition, as part of their professional development initiative within UI Health, they act as consultants on projects being spearheaded by current physicians, nurses, and administrators. As these initiatives roll out, they will improve patient outcomes and more than cover the cost of professional development. Choosing not to transition these individuals to the correct title places the teaching of current students within the Masters of Patient Safety Leader program at risk of closure and professional development and consulting within UI Health will no longer be sustainable.

The ideal candidate for these faculty positions will be pursuing an academic career in Patient Safety Leadership (PSL), with broad interests and skills within the field as well as depth in an area of study or methodology relevant to Patient Safety Leadership, demonstrated scholarship, and a track record of developing new capstone mentor and second reader orientation and accompanying materials.
