Under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Quality and Safety Analytics & Data Strategy, the Senior Quality and Safety Analyst will join a centralized analytics team grounded in data science to participate in projects that promote a culture of excellence. The Senior Quality and Safety Analyst possesses intellectual curiosity and the ability to manage multiple complex data projects simultaneously. Serves as the primary contact for guiding departments to understand publicly reported measures and reputational programs. Leverages software applications to design solutions, perform detailed data mapping and analysis, and reviews all data for insights prior to distribution. This position also accurately collects, monitors, and analyzes data from external benchmarking agencies such as the Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and QualityNet programs, Vizient, U.S. News & World Reports (USNWR) and Leapfrog to address YNHHS' clinical performance, quality, safety, and reputation.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Acts as a strategic partner with members of senior leadership and interdisciplinary teams to produce data that assists in key decision-making, quality improvement, and enhanced patient outcomes.
  • 2. Manages one or more complex data projects. Utilizes hospital systems and databases to update and analyze data. Maintains integrity and quality of data by understanding workflows.
  • 3. Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to redefine processes, ensuring alignment with industry benchmarks.
  • 4. Works regularly with publicly reported measures including, but not limited to Centers for Medicare Services (CMS) and QualityNet, Vizient, Agency for Healthcare Quality (AHRQ), LeapFrog, US News & World Report, and clinical registries and can clearly translate the impact of changes to these programs.
  • 5. Liaises with external reporting agencies regarding overall quality and safety performance
  • 6. Designs, implements, and supports data modeling to provide insights to drive organizational performance improvement initiatives.
  • 7. Creates reports and dashboards that track multidimensional performance against division or organizational goals.
  • 8. Evaluates the utility of reporting methods and visual representations frequently to effectively communicate through data.
  • 9. Responsible for routine and ad hoc dissemination of key information to stakeholders.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelors degree required. Masters Degree required OR a Bachelors degree and a minimum of four (4) years of direct healthcare quality experience in lieu of a Masters Degree.

EXPERIENCE

5+ years of experience in project management in a healthcare setting
Previous experience within a large academic or multi-facility environment preferred.
Expertise in data visualization, with the ability to display key results across organizational levels and transition between technical audiences and C-suite
Understanding of data management and manipulation and interpretation of large data sets in a medical center environment.
Strong experience in data management and advanced analytic tools and techniques; Strong experience demonstrating analytical, qualitative, and quantitative skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

LICENSURE

Valid RN license or related healthcare professional license preferred but not required.
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) required

Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and policies with the ability to use them in complex, varied situations.
Teamwork: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows.
Customer Service: Ability to provide an elevated level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and internal and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem-solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
