Salary:

1st Year - $25.43/hour

2nd Year - $25.83/hour

Thereafter - $26.24/hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM or Tuesday - Friday 6:30 AM -5:00 PM Job Description:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Supervisor - Power Generation Environmental or designee, assists with day-to-day operations of power generation facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Operates various pieces of equipment including but not limited to: dump truck, water truck, street sweeper, vacuum truck, backhoe, fork lift, brush hog/tractor and lawn maintenance equipment (including slope mower and hydroseeder).
2. Assists with cleaning of coal/ash handling facilities.
3. Performs minor maintenance and servicing of equipment utilized.
4. Performs minor facility repair including carpentry, 110/220-volt electric, and domestic plumbing. Paints equipment and building structures.
5. Assists with plant custodial duties on as needed basis.
6. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.
7. Works safely and encourages safe work of others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. One or more years of recent experience in the operations and minor maintenance of industrial equipment is required. Experience operating hand and power tools is required. Power plant experience is preferred.

Licensing/Certification:

Must have a valid Missouri CDL, Class B including air brakes, OR:
a. The ability to obtain a Missouri Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) within six weeks of employment AND
b. The ability to obtain a CDL, Class B including air brakes within six months of employment. This requires approximately 15 hours (total) classroom training and completion of behind-the-wheel training (hours to be determined) as required by City Utilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Ability to:
o Organize assigned work and perform it in a timely manner.
o Work independently with minimal supervision.
o Work courteously with customers and coworkers.
o Show good judgment in decisions.
o Maintain a clean working environment of assigned area.
o Successfully navigate various electronic programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms.
* Knowledge of
o Power plant operations, safety procedures and guidelines.
o Carpentry and minor electrical maintenance.
o Custodial duties.
* Dependability due to size of workforce.
* Maintain adherence to all company policies.

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements include: pushing, pulling, lifting 55 pounds regularly and up to 90 pounds occasionally, stooping, bending, working at heights, and being able to visually differentiate between color-coded electrical and electronic equipment associated with this job. Must be able to respond to audible and visual alarms, including safety and production alarms. Must be able to work within the rated capacity of the utility's aerial lifts, ladders, fall restraint devices, and/or other job-related equipment.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Exposure to industrial plant atmosphere when working inside. Exposed to low and high voltages, heat, noise, and toxic chemicals. May be required to wear a respirator. Must be clean-shaven such that facial hair will not interfere with the respirator seal during annual fit testing of respiratory protection and when required to wear the respirator on the job.

Safety Sensitive Position:

A safety-sensitive position involves the performance of duties which may have a direct and immediate impact on the safety of the public and other public employees. This is a safety sensitive position.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

* Subject to Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
* Required to wear uniform clothing provided by City Utilities, including flame retardant/arc rated clothing. Management retains the right to require replacement due to wear or staining.
* Employee must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.
* Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
* Shift work and/or overtime may be required.
* Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.

TESTING

Testing may be required.
