DUTIES

Support the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering
(N&CSE) organization in the development of emergency preparedness documentation for
various nuclear facilities at the Savannah River Site (SRS). As a qualified Emergency Planning
Hazard Assessments analyst, primary duties are to participate in the development, preparation,
and/or review of All-Hazards Surveys, Emergency Planning Hazards Assessments (EPHAs), and
related technical documents. This includes participating in planning and hazards analysis
meetings, developing accident analyses using barrier analysis (e.g., failure of engineered barrier,
failure of administrative barrier or control), and performing Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) and
Emergency Action Level (EAL) evaluations. This also includes performing consequence
assessments using ALOHA, Hotspot, EPIcode, or related computer codes.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems. Begin using systems
and meeting requirements with minimal supervisory guidance. Understands and applies
advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques; has
working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications. Accepts
complex tasks and receives minimal guidance from senior professionals. Provide limited
guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals. May delegate portions of the
detail work to less senior personnel.

Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features
(such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or
processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements) into problem solving and
program planning. Develop alternate solutions to existing problems. Perform all detail work
necessary to determine best solutions.

Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area. Evaluate
proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment.
Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and
projects. Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other
phases (such as design and fabrication) to better evaluate and minimize future problems.

Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort.
Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving,
engineering reports, technical papers, and articles.

Work Hours: A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including
5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9
hours/day, four days per week plus 8 hours every other Friday). Except at the discretion of the
manager, the work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday has an unpaid 30-minute lunch.
Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of
the Manager. Full remote telework is not authorized.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education: Degree in applicable science or engineering discipline: (a) Entry level with PhD
degree; (b) MS degree with 2-4 years experience; or (b) BA/BS degree with 5-10 years
experience.

Alternative education, when paired with significant relevant experience, will be considered at
the discretion of the manager.

Experience/Skills:
Prior experience providing EPHA support to facilities in the Department of Energy (DOE)
complex or nuclear industry is required.

Previous experience with implementation of DOE O 151.1 Comprehensive Emergency
Management System and its implementing Guide DOE G 151.1-2 Technical Planning Basis
through the authorship of EPHAs and/or development of All-Hazards Surveys is required.

Experience in using ALOHA, Hotspot, EPIcode, or related codes is required.

Experience in using ALOHA, Hotspot, and/or EPIcode is preferred.

Previous experience at SRS is preferred.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Area Security Access: Clearance "Q" required. Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI
registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE / NNSA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q)
within the past two (2) years are preferred.
