Purpose of Position
The Global Benefits Manager will support the development and execution of key benefits initiatives for domestic and global populations. This role will be responsible for leading a team of professionals tasked with the administration, expansion and streamlining of global benefits programs across multiple business units and legal entity structures. This role requires strong partnerships with HR Business Partners, HR Centers of Excellence, Legal, Finance, Information Technology, and leadership stakeholders to formulate, recommend, and implement solutions impacting a wide range of employees across diverse workforce populations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collaborate with global benefits director and internal/external thought partners to shape the program strategy and define initiatives for continuous improvement that provide a competitive advantage in the attraction and retention of talent
- Leads benefit teams work streams to automate and simplify benefit administration processes to increase efficiency, accuracy and promote a better employee experience
- Perform routine utilization and costing analysis to understand the efficacy, desirability, and accessibility of employee benefit programs; recommend new programs, changes to programs, or cessation of programs and implement as approved
- Provide internal consultation and interpretations around escalations from employees and the business and incorporate relevant feedback to improve on future program delivery
- Deliver subject matter expertise on all benefit programs
- Participate in key surveys and identify appropriate benchmarking to measure the competitive level of our programs and costs, balancing against expressed employee preferences and feedback
- Manage reconciliations and processing of benefit plan invoices ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments
- Partner with Benefits team, HR Business Partners, Payroll, Legal, Finance, IT to deliver benefits reporting and provide benefits-related support and HR-facing and employee-facing training
- Participate in Benefits Department annual Strategic Planning
- Ensure all sponsored benefit plans are administered in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA and FMLA
- Oversee Leave Administration, compliance, and management of Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
- Oversee the Workers Compensation process to ensure compliance through completion
- Lead retirement plan administration, including 401K and (frozen) pension
- Provide performance expectations, developmental training, and mentoring for a team of Benefits professionals
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Finance, or related field of study, required.
- Advanced degree, a plus.
- Related certification(s), a plus.
Minimum Experience
- 6+ years of experience in Benefits Administration & Compliance required
- 2 or more years' experience supervising people, required
- Experience in a global organization, a plus
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Understanding in core HR principles and Total Rewards foundations
- Experience with international and expatriate benefit plans, preferred
- Experience with union benefit plans, preferred
- Experience in negotiating and selecting benefit plan vendors, preferred
- HRIS experience, including report writing; SAP SuccessFactors, Benefitfocus experience a plus
- Experience in project management, a plus
- Process oriented, critical thinker
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Fluency in English
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations
- Able to work unsupervised, as needed
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook
