Job Summary

This is an on-site position to lead & coordinate with the following: the Quality Management System, ensuring the plant's ongoing compliance with all quality certifications, and in providing technical support for Environmental, Health & Safety requirements.

The Avon Lake site EHS Coordinator is a new role and is intended to support an EHS resurgence for the site that is currently underway. Reporting to the EHS Manager, this position serves as a critical component of the site's Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Management System. The incumbent in this role will lead critical projects with a focus on risk mitigation and compliance activities. By driving employee engagement, the leader in this role will assist in the EHS maturation of the site for years to come.

Essential Functions
* This position will be responsible for supporting and coordinating risk mitigation activities site wide. These activities will include Residual Risk Reduction (R3) and 6S events. The EHS Coordinator will coordinate meetings and reviews, identify action items, and track through completion.
* Avient's EHS&S Maturity Roadmap is a web based tool used to ensure that its sites are compliant with regulatory requirements spanning 60+ safety standards. The EHS Coordinator will assist the EHS Manager in working through each standard, identifying gaps, developing actions to remedy, and tracking through completion.
* A significant component of Avient's EHS&S Management System is training. The EHS Coordinator will build, present, and track completion of all required trainings identified in the roadmap tool. This training will cover incumbent workforce and hew hires spanning 3 shifts and 5 departments.
* Given the size and scope of our plant, there are significant regulatory requirements that the EHS Coordinator will assist the EHS Manager with. Some of these include Air Permitting, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, Spill Control Plans, SARA reporting requirements, and more.
* The EHS Coordinator will serve as a leader on the site's Safety Committee. The expectation will be that the leader in the role will coordinate meetings, take minutes, assign actions and owners, and ensure follow up.
* The site's safety management system is Responsible Care 14001. The EHS Coordinator will assist the site in supporting this system by preparing required documents, participating in audits, and ensuring completion of identified action items from them.
* In support of our sustainability initiatives, the EHS Coordinator will work to identify, plan for and execute waste and energy reduction initiatives annually.
* Other duties will be assigned in support of proactive safety initiatives driven by employees.

Education and Experience

* Bachelors Degree or equiv exp
* 1-2 years working in a manufacturing environment with a preference for work done in a chemical processing facility.
* Strong preference for experience in Environmental, Health and Safety. Experiences could include time spent on a safety committee, working as a coordinator or specialist, or relevant classroom training.

Physical Demands

* Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening. Must be able to walk and use hands.
* Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs.
* May occasionally be required to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
* Typically work is in a manufacturing environment where noise level is loud.
* Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, and respiratory protection.
* Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine. May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity.
* May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes.
