About The Position

The Quality Assurance Consultant ensures Ameren Illinois Gas Operations is committed to excellence in meeting or exceeding the requirements of the Operating and Maintenance Plan, State and Federal Pipeline Safety Regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform field inspections to support Gas Operations in compliance with the Operating and Maintenance Plan and State and Federal Pipeline Safety Regulations. Coach coworkers to improve quality of Operations. Document findings and provide summary for review by division management. Partner with division management to develop immediate corrective action plans for identified issues.
  • Assist Operations in taking active responsibility for corrective action plan implementation and completion.
  • Perform focused field inspections to insure quality of compliance related activities such as leak survey, patrolling, leak investigation, valve inspection, regulator station inspection, cathodic protection monitoring. Such inspections will require the use of related gas equipment.
  • Support Gas Operations by reviewing compliance records, both manually prepared and electronic (Gas Compliance System) and provide solutions to improve quality of records.
  • Perform special audits of records and/or operations based on findings of ICC Pipeline Safety Analysts as well as federal and industry advisories.
  • Work together as a team with Gas Operations during Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) field and record audits to promote positive results. Assist in responding to issues identified/notices of probable violation.
  • Work with Gas Training Superintendent to ensure issues identified during audits related to training and Operator Qualification are addressed.
  • Stimulate communications with Gas Operations to share best practices and common solutions.
  • Provide 24 hour coverage for gas emergency/incident investigation and response. Assist in the investigation of potential incidents and conduct emergency response reviews with Division Operations.
  • Significant travel required throughout the Ameren Illinois service territory will be required. Additional travel may be needed in the first year across AIC locations for training and development purposes.
Qualifications

Associate's Degree in a technical discipline or a Bachelor of Science degree required. Ten years work experience in gas operations/gas storage or completion of a relevant technical trade program may be considered in lieu of a degree. Eight or more years of relevant experience in gas operations/gas storage, engineering, or quality assurance required. Gas Journeyman Operator Qualification credentials preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Excellent working knowledge of CFR 49 Part 192 Code, National Fuel Gas Code, and Illinois Administrative Code; thorough understanding of the Ameren Operating and Maintenance Plan; Good organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; demonstrated ability to read construction drawings; familiarity with related technology (i.e., Maximo, OAS, DOJM, and Microsoft Office; good written communication skills: and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$86,400.00 - $133,900.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
