DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and performing research required to move an educator complaint forward for subsequent prosecution by attorneys. Discretion is essential as this role handles sensitive and confidential matters. Your work will involve fielding incoming calls and interviewing complainants to obtain information regarding alleged incidents of misconduct, conducting legal research, and participating in the preparation of cases for trial. You will also draft legal arguments for briefs or memoranda and responses to correspondence, perform general case management, analyze legal issues, and prepare summaries. Other responsibilities include coordinating with courts to analyze pending charges and obtain certified court documents in support of a case, as well as contacting with school management and police to fully evaluate an alleged incident and subsequent school action.

This role offers you independent and teamwork opportunities to provide a full range of support to attorneys in preparation for hearings, proceedings, and actions regarding cases of educational misconduct, and to assist attorneys in aspects of educator discipline by offering different ways of considering issues and creative approaches to problem solving. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school; or
  • Three years of professional experience in legal research and analysis, and a bachelor's degree; or Five years of legal research and analysis experience including three years at the professional level, and an associate's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in legal research and analysis.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
