Position Summary:

Applied Training Solutions, LLC is seeking a qualified Budget Section Support Specialist to assist in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting during emergency operations. This position is responsible for analyzing financial data, coordinating budget needs and requests with DEM budget personnel, supporting state agency cost tracking, and developing or modifying financial procedures in support of EOC activations.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Analyze financial data to develop reports as required





  • Determine budget needs and coordinate with DEM budget personnel to submit requests





  • Work with state agencies to ensure cost data is being reported





  • Develop and modify processes and procedures related to the budget role during EOC activations





  • Perform other financial tracking duties as needed





  • Support internal audits and financial reviews as required





  • Coordinate with finance and operations teams to align budget priorities with incident needs





  • Maintain organized and accurate records of budget documentation





  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state budgetary regulations




Basic Qualifications:




  • College degree in economics, finance, or accounting





  • 3+ years of work experience performing financial analysis, budget development/tracking, or accounting activities





  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations





  • Experience with state budgeting or accounting systems and procedures





  • Strong analytical and organizational skills





  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools





  • Must be a U.S. citizen




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Experience supporting emergency operations or EOC activations





  • Familiarity with FEMA financial reporting processes





  • Understanding of government accounting standards





  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment

  • Performance Location: On-site while on assignment (location TBD)

  • Travel Required: Yes - up to 100% while on assignment




Working Environment:

The usual work environment is an office or EOC setting at a location determined by assignment. The role may involve occasional lifting of computers and equipment (generally not exceeding 50 lbs.), typically in connection with off-site transport. Travel regularly includes locations throughout the continental United States and its territories. Duties may involve extended work periods beyond 12 hours per day, work in outdoor/austere conditions, and prolonged driving to work sites.
