Position Summary
Position Overview: The Computer Science Department is seeking a motivated student employee to provide technical and user support for faculty, staff, and students. This position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative academic environment, ideal for those with a strong interest in Linux systems and interpersonal communication. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty and students with Linux-related tasks, troubleshooting, and basic system navigation.
- Support setup and maintenance of lab environments and virtual machines.
- Respond to routine technical issues via email, in-person, and ticketing systems.
- Help maintain software installations, system updates, and user access.
- Collaborate with department IT personnel on system improvements and project work.
- Document processes and common technical solutions for departmental reference.
Work Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible around class schedule) Location: On-site in the Computer Science Department Lab

Preferred Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu or Debian preferred).
- Basic understanding of shell commands, system logs, and terminal navigation.
- Excellent customer service skills and willingness to assist users with varying technical backgrounds.
- Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with remote access tools (SSH, SCP).
- Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Interest in computer science, cybersecurity, or IT support.
