About the opportunity

SWCA's Pasadena Natural Resources Program is actively seeking a Staff Level Project Specialist to join our multi-disciplinary team in Pasadena, California. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
Work will involve data entry and data processing using an organization spreadsheet system, interacting directly with client contacts and contractors via phone and email. This position will facilitate requests from clients to perform environmental support for utility work in a fast-paced environment working within a larger, collaborative team. This position will require good customer relationship skills and the ability to handle multiple complex situations within a tight timeframe. It will also intermittently require work beyond regular business hours. For candidates with a biological sciences background, and particularly with experience with desktop assessment for California native species, there is potential for cross training in this role for several other programs, that vary from biological review to coordination and support.
Our Pasadena office offers a unique work environment and specializes in Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, and Permitting.
The candidate could fill any of three staff-level roles based on skill and years of relevant experience:
  • Project Specialist: Typically, up to 1 year of relevant experience and expertise
  • Senior Project Specialist: One (1) to 2 years of relevant experience and expertise.

  • Typically reports to a more senior employee in the Administration discipline
  • Exhibits good organization, communication, and human relations skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Experience and qualifications for success

  • High school diploma
  • Preferred candidate will have proficiency in MS-Office, MS-Outlook, and Internet/Intranet technologies, along with data entry/processing
  • Previous customer/client service experience
    Able to work independently and collaborate with a variety of colleagues and clients
    Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment while working on interesting and challenging projects with tight schedule

An employee in this Pasadena,CA based position can expect an hourly pay rate for a Project Specialist of $22.87 - $29.49/hr and for a Senior Project Specialist $25.88 - $33.10/hr. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
