The salary range for this role is:

$19.63 - $31.35

Responsibilities:

As the Quality & Safety Coordinator, you will play a vital role in advancing the site's quality and safety initiatives. By actively participating in improvement projects and supporting local programs and campaigns, you will drive a culture of excellence. Your responsibilities include inspiring plant employees to prioritize quality and safety in all operations, providing constructive feedback, coaching for success, and leading by example through your actions and commitment.

  • Report quality and safety issues to HR and Site Manager and help solve them.
  • Encourage employees to spot safety and quality concerns, share ideas, and get involved in projects and training.
  • Take an active role in investigating incidents and making improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Develop programs, procedures, work instructions and training with focus on quality and safety
  • Lead health and safety projects, audits, and inspections at the plant or department level.
  • Investigate plant incidents and non-conformance and make sure corrective actions are completed.
  • Maintain safety records.
  • Provide the required safety training to employees.
  • Participate in emergency response planning.
  • Define safety training needs for facility employees to meet safety requirements.
  • Compare warehouse hold inventory databases to the QA database to assure accuracy each week. Review Stock Status Report accuracy and reconcile if differences are found.
  • Coordinate Process Control Change efforts pertaining to materials and supplies. Communicate alternative/substitutions to plant purchasing to reflect changes in process orders.
  • Prepare quality reports, forms (create and revise) and any other typing or data entry needed.
  • Update manuals, policies, procedures, plant programs, training aides, and work instructions as needed.
  • Work with supervisory staff in preparing the plant and all necessary materials and supplies documents for internal and third-party audits (responsibilities may include internal plant programs such as CAPA, SCAR, Food Safety, Sanitation, and any other related documents).
  • Review records as directed to ensure safety and quality related to materials and supplies when necessary.
  • Work well with different job levels and external agencies for better safety.
  • Keep learning and stay up to date on safety methodologies through professional development.
  • Assessing and reducing the safety risk impact of the plant's operations.
  • Expect administrative duties in this role.
  • Provide coverage to 2nd or 3rd shift when/if needed.

Qualifications:

  • This position is on 1st shift, but the ability to work 2nd/3rd when needed is required.
  • BS Degree in Environmental Engineering preferred and/or equivalent education / experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a safety or quality admin/coordinator in a manufacturing environment.
  • An additional five years' experience can be substituted for required education.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer (CESCO) can be beneficial.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety standards, and health guidelines related to the food and beverage industry. Familiarity with OSHA, and other relevant regulations is essential.
  • Strong leadership and management skills to set goals, and drive quality and safety initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels, conduct safety/quality training, and communicate protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Applicable working experience related to Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing plant.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and hazard analyses to develop and implement safety programs and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external agencies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing regulations and industry standards.
  • Capability to develop and deliver safety/quality training programs for employees.
  • Knowledge and experience in emergency preparedness and response planning.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in safety/quality processes and practices.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and promote a culture of safety/quality and compliance within the organization.
