Summary:

The Anesthesia Services Director directly collaborates with the Director of Peri-operative Services, Medical Director of Peri-operative Services, Medical Director of the Northeast Hospital and the Senior Vice President, Surgeon in Chief. Through this collaboration, the Anesthesia Director has the accountability and responsibility for the delivery of anesthesia services and the management of patient care within their respective areas. This director facilitates teamwork and unit pride by advocating for an environment that promotes high patient care standards and implements strategies to ensure employee, physician and patient satisfaction. The Anesthesia Services Director oversees Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist practice, Anesthesia advanced practice, personnel management, and overall staff development. The Director assumes accountability for all aspects of business conducted in their areas of responsibility and diligently monitors key performance indicators for assigned departments. This director conducts self with a team-orientation, professionalism, and demonstrates appropriate decision-making abilities based on evidenced based practice. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment in their area of clinical practice.

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Anesthesia required, Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Progressive management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical anesthesia experience.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Must have good personnel management, presentation and organizational skills.
  • 2 years leadership experience preferred.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.
  • Current certification and licensure as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Texas.
  • Certified or re-certified as a CRNA.
  • AANA membership.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS).
