The Position

Pharma Technical Operations, Cell & Gene Therapy (PTC) is the global team responsible for all CMC aspects of our cell and gene therapy portfolio, from development through scale-up and industrialization. Our Philadelphia site specializes in gene therapy initiatives and will be actively involved in the construction of a new Gene Therapy Innovation Center aimed at delivering transformative gene therapies to patients.

This individual contributor role is a crucial component of our Capital Planning and Strategy team, focused on optimizing our financial resources to drive corporate growth and innovation. As part of this team, you will play an integral role in executing and enhancing capital processes to support annual capital planning, budget development, and the capital approval process. You will collaborate closely with business partners and stakeholders to align our long-range capital plan with strategic initiatives, ensuring the effective allocation of resources across all business units.

The Opportunity:

The main function of the Sr. Principal Capital Operations is to manage the capital portfolio and budget activities to deliver key strategic projects, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and metrics while maintaining compliance and facilitating continuous improvement. Additionally, you will:

  • Execute and enhance capital processes for annual planning, budget development, and capital approval, collaborating with business partners and stakeholders to forecast and update the long-range capital plan

  • Manage cross-functional teams and activities for successful business capital project execution, facilitating and managing the capital governance model, including portfolio execution and investment committees

  • Develop reports for monthly capital financial results, manage the annual capital budget process, and launch and manage electronic capital request platforms and dashboards for KPI tracking

  • Execute processes leading to project funding requests and approval in collaboration with lead end users, serving as a main point of contact for capital project stage gate processes

  • Develop, update, and improve business guidelines, policies, and procedures for capital project delivery, championing processes for capital request execution, project lifecycle delivery, and other capital programs

  • Support Capital Program Sponsors with the development and issuance of Capital Approval Requests, ensuring compliance and effective project execution

  • Support and lead capital projects in collaboration with the Site Engineering team as required, ensuring successful delivery and adherence to standards

Who You Are:

  • You possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with at least 12 years of relevant experience (or 8 years with a Master's degree) in developing and managing capital budgets, and in planning and the approval process

  • You have proven leadership capabilities in stakeholder management and cross-functional team leadership, with strong interpersonal skills to engage and manage relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • You have demonstrated capital project delivery experience from project initiation through closeout phase, including expertise in capital governance, compliance with safety, scope, cost, schedule, and coordination activities

  • You possess a strong financial and business acumen, with extensive experience in capital budget development, reporting, and governance

  • You are an excellent communicator and comfortable presenting updates to senior leadership and facilitating governance activities in a regulated environment, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and protocols

  • You are an effective team player with a demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and support among colleagues, possessing global experience in managing projects and portfolios across different regions and cultures

  • You have strong technical capabilities, proficient in navigating various applications including Google Suite and MS Office

Preferred Experience:

  • Cell and Gene Therapy industry experience

  • Capital project management experience executing capital projects up to $10MM

  • Experience developing and managing project management systems, processes, controls, tools, etc.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Philadelphia is $136,080 (min) - $194,400 (mid) - $252,720 (max). Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed in this link.
