Job Description

The Director of VA Compliance serves as the regulatory officer overseeing veteran education programming at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses. Reporting to the Dean of Student Support, the Director ensures institutional compliance with all applicable federal, state, and university regulations related to veterans' benefits programs.

This role requires deep knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, and involves ongoing monitoring of changes in VA regulations and initiatives. The Director maintains strong collaborative relationships with internal departments and external agencies that influence ERAU's eligibility and participation in VA education programs.

Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of the VA State Approving Agency (SAA) authorization process, leading compliance and risk-based survey submissions, maintaining accurate student records, analyzing policy impacts, and providing strategic guidance and training to staff. The Director must balance multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and communicate effectively with university leadership, staff, and external regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required; field of study may vary, but should be in a related area.
  • A degree combined with experience in veteran educational programming regulations is essential.
  • School Certifying Official (SCO) and VA Enrollment Manager certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience related to veteran education compliance or regulatory affairs.
  • Experience in responding to regulatory issues and developing or interpreting policies, rules, or regulations.
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and address compliance-related issues.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state regulations governing veteran educational programs.
  • Familiarity with computerized information systems; experience with Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, CRM systems, and VA Enrollment Manager preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
