Director, Air & Ground - Supplier Management & Delivery (Remote)

Full-time, United States

The Director, Air & Ground - Supplier Management & Delivery, will be responsible managing all aspects of an assigned portfolio of global or regional air related suppliers to include but not limited to developing and directing supplier strategy, contract negotiation, sale of products and services, financials (budgets, billing, payment and profitability), business planning and reviews, establishing relationships with key decision makers locally, regionally and globally, business continuance and escalation of operational issues.

Direct responsibility to BCD and externally to the supplier for the success of the contract on a global basis and/or across multiple/singular BCD Travel geographical regions (Americas, Europe, APAC) as applicable. Responsible for meeting and exceeding supplier portfolio budgets.

As a Director, Air & Ground - Supplier Management & Delivery, you will

Negotiate agreements with preferred suppliers (global, regional, country)



  • Model performance and expected results in coordination with Supplier Analysts Teams.
  • Coordinate with Legal teams and suppliers to fully execute BCD agreement language.
  • Facilitate information dissemination once agreement is reached.
  • Update SMD management and relevant global colleagues with details of agreements.
  • Update all relevant internal information areas as required. MySource, OpsSpace, Teams Channels, SF Chatter etc.



Develop and Implement Strategic Action Plans




  • Create strategic initiatives for individual supplier portfolios in coordination with the regional and global strategy to drive incremental revenue opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
  • Maximize supplier revenue and yield, ensuring balance between fixed elements and growth targets.
  • Provide analysis on ad hoc market, supplier, or client changes that occur by evaluating options to address them.
  • Monitor ongoing performance of supplier initiatives to address market changes proactively.
  • Evaluate shifting market dynamics with the intent to minimize client impact.
  • Assist SR leadership in developing a strategy with Program Management, Operations, and other internal teams to increase the market share of preferred suppliers.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of cash collection, meeting and exceeding contractual collection targets.
  • Work with SMD leaders to determine the feasibility of agent incentives and proactively implement where agreed.
  • Communicate/coordinate implementation, tracking, and results of agent/PM incentives.
  • Conduct at least quarterly reviews with strategic suppliers, coordinating needed actions to drive performance improvement and incremental revenue.
  • Present industry updates, ensuring both internal and external stakeholders are aware of industry changes relevant to the supplier portfolio.



Content and Distribution Management




  • Ownership of internal knowledge sharing of content availability for the portfolio of suppliers, liaising with both the supplier and internal teams
  • Educate internal stakeholders on the portfolio of the supplier's content strategies.
  • Coordination with Program, Operational management, Distribution, and technical teams to ensure access to content and any limitations are well-known.
  • Coordinating with product and technology teams to understand the timing/availability of content in specific channels, assisting with communications when needed.
  • Stay current on industry trends while evaluating whether industry changes have the potential to impact BCD's business.
  • Assist with industry questions/concerns from Program Management, commercial, operational, and other BCD internal teams.



Engagement and Communication




  • Act as primary contact for a defined portfolio of Air & Ground suppliers.
  • Use BCD Guiding Principles in all aspects of contract negotiations and execution.
  • Ensure positive relationships exist at all necessary levels of the suppliers' organizations and across BCD.
  • Liaise with operational teams to ensure any supplier changes impacting productivity are known and mitigated when possible.
  • Partner with Advito and the BCD Product Planning teams to align on key opportunities to enable growth for clients, suppliers, and BCD.
  • Engage with Product Planning teams to identify gaps and plan for future enhancements that will drive incremental revenue.
  • Liaise with Program Management and commercial leadership to ensure that the client impact of supplier changes is documented and communicated.
  • Communicate industry matters and supplier updates within Supplier Management & Delivery and all other relevant teams.
  • Provide constructive feedback to suppliers concerning their initiatives.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal teams concerning supplier issues.
  • Plan educational trips with suppliers, as agreed.
  • Assist with VIP requests.
  • Assist, communicate, and present preferred selling strategy to agents and program management teams.
  • Follow, enhance, and educate on BCD Travel Supplier Management & Delivery philosophy.
  • Participate in industry advisory boards, trade shows, conventions, and familiarization trips deemed beneficial.



Supplier Analysis and Reporting




  • Proactively manage contractual targets with travel suppliers, evaluating both yield optimization and risk mitigation based on current and forecasted performance.
  • Utilize supplier, internal, and third-party data to analyze supplier contractual performance, ensuring optimal revenues and earnings rates.
  • Constantly evaluate supplier incentive results against local/regional/global strategy to optimize performance.
  • Partner with Supplier Analysts teams to create new and innovative tools to drive efficiency in contract reporting and promote creativity in contract optimization.
  • Coordinate with supplier analysts' teams to support company forecasts fully.
  • Secure supplier payments and follow up on outstanding payments/reimbursements due to maximize cash flow and minimize outstanding aged receivables.
  • Manage internal vs. supplier data variances to increase supplier-related projections' accuracy.
  • Proactively provide projections on performance and income for each supplier as required.
  • Coordinate, track, and assist in optimizing supplier portfolio ticketing and marketing soft funds.
  • Track, monitor, and liaise on supplier marketing events in conjunction with Supplier Marketing teams.



Provide Training, Education, and Leadership




  • Work directly with learning and development teams & performance solutions to develop preferred vendor training.
  • Act as a supplier subject matter expert to drive creative initiatives with performance solutions teams, enabling suppliers to be more involved in our business, where agreed.
  • Work with Program Managers and Operations Managers to improve adoption and performance with preferred suppliers.



About you




  • Extensive travel industry experience in supplier management role
  • Successful history in a consulting role
  • Experience implementing & managing large market/ global suppliers
  • Strong understanding of business travel management
  • Contract negotiation experience is required
  • Effective communication skills in English (oral, written & presentation)
  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally

The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Director, Supplier Management & Delivery is between $95,000 and $130,000. The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience and geographical location.
