Automation Engineer The Opportunity Behind every product sold by Roche is Pharma Global Technical Operations. Starting with Phase I of the development process and continuing through to product maturity with the support of partners from around the world. Within this organization, both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) teams are essential to the process of producing and delivering vital medicines to patients. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled engineer to join our Site ITOT Organization in a crucial role managing our Distributed Control Systems (DeltaV). Actual title insider the organization: Information Systems Engineer Key Responsibilities:
Develop, configure, and implement Emerson DeltaV control systems, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, and industry best practices. Engineer system architecture, instrument specifications, and control strategies to optimize manufacturing efficiency. Configure DeltaV applications, HMI, and historian solutions while ensuring compliance with GAMP 5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations. Provide startup, commissioning and troubleshooting support activities for deployed systems into production environments. Ensure compliance with system and software development life cycle methodologies, including validation documentation. Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including process engineers, validation engineers and project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget. Support ITOT Automation projects, upgrades and capacity expansions, systems lifecycle asset replacement, system maintenance, disaster recovery, start-up, and troubleshooting of automation systems infrastructure. Produce and review design drawings and specification documents (URS, FS, DS, etc.). Generate, execute, and review design testing, generate and participate in functional specification testing and perform field inspection services. Generate, execute and review Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification protocols. Support inspection activities to present automation design and qualification deliverables and strategy (e.g. Qualification Project Plans and Master Plans). Provide end user support in a complex, 24x7 environment. Must be able to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical customers.
Who You Are
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science\Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 3+ year of experience in automation and control system engineering. Emerson DeltaV experience is required. Familiarity with Historian, Alarm Management and Advanced Control Strategies. Experience with automation protocols (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, OPC). Understanding of industrial networking for communication between controllers, servers and HMIs Biotechnology experience is preferred. Knowledge of GAMP5, cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and validation life cycle processes is preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation issues. Familiarity with Rockwell Automation, Siemens PCS7 or other DCS/SCADA systems is a plus. Working knowledge of SmartLine Data Cockpit (SDC) is a plus.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Oceanside, California state is $80,500 - $149,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
