Overview

The Quality Engineer is responsible for the execution of the Midland Quality Assurance Program through the gathering and analysis of data in support of our customers, operations, supply chain, and supporting functions. The Quality Engineer utilizes quality and continuous improvement tools and methodology to enhance and maintain the quality assurance program, solve problems, and rectify any issues in the correct way. Provides leadership and coaching to other functional team members including but not limited to operations, supply chain, customer service, and engineering in support of Midland's products and services.

Primary/Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all quality regulations, standards and corporate policies including but not limited to AAR M-1003
  • Assist Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality assurance program and all associated quality documentation and records
  • Accountable for the long-term implementation and sustainment of quality processes
  • Monitor, measure, and audit the quality of manufactured goods
  • Conduct internal and/or supplier audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure timely resolution of product/supplier failures, corrective actions and preventive actions
  • Utilizing root cause investigations and problem solving tools (A3, 8D, FAST, Six Sigma, etc) to systematically identify and resolve manufacturing issues coordinating with cross functional teams as needed to acheive results
  • Preparation of Quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations using appropriate techinical writing standards
  • Work safely following all establish policies and procedures
  • Completes all job specific and company required training timely
  • Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area
  • Performs other duties to achieve overall business unit metrics
  • Supports all aspects of on-site quality needs

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Quality, Manufacturing, Metallurgical or technically related field
  • Certifications in one or more of the following a plus: CQE, CQM, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
  • 5+ years experience working in Quality ina manufacturing setting with experience in a CNC Machining environment preferred

Physical Demands and Environmnetal Conditions

  • This position is performed in a combination of manufacturing environment and office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapor
  • Position requires a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Position will require use of computer, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft 365 product suite
