On-Call Assistant Teacher, Temporary

Requirements

The On-Call Assistant Teacher assists teachers and assistant teachers in providing an age appropriate child development program and activities. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Comply with statutory, regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Conduct and plan programs and activities that implement an emergent curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with parents that meets an individual child's needs.


Work Interactions

On-Call Assistant Teachers assist full time teaching staff in providing an age appropriate child development program and activities by creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children. The ability to interact with staff, families, and children of Hoya Kids is necessary for the smooth operations of the Center. This position reports to the Director of Hoya Kids Learning Center. All child care center staff and Georgetown University student assistants work with this position and report to the Director.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A high school diploma and practical experience working with children
  • Interest in working in an environment with young children
  • Strong relationship and communication skills
  • Some college credits in Early Childhood Education (CDA, Associates Degree accepted) are preferred
  • Computer experience to include email, internet research, word processing, and PowerPoint knowledge desired
  • CPR and First Aid are desired

Pay Range

The projected hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $15.75 - $17.50. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
