CAES Mission Systems, Eatontown NJ is seeking a Senior Design Drafter who specializes in fixturing, cable assemblies, & board layout. This Designer position is like no other. If you have a passion for Design Drafting and would like to work in the Defense Industry, then this position is for you. You will make a difference every day while being challenged to work on programs that defy industry standards.

This position is an opportunity for someone who likes to do it all. This is a position that spans both Mechanical and Electrical Design as well as all aspects of Document Control.You will convert customer specifications for electrical and mechanical engineering concepts to practical RF, Digital or mixed technology mechanical and PCB design solutions.

Responsibilities

As part of our dynamic engineering and manufacturing team, you will design new state of the art products, as well as maintain documentation for our current products in production. This will

involve:

  • Creating CAD models of parts and assemblies in support of new product design and development.
  • Generating documentation, drawings, and layouts in support of new product design and development.
  • Demonstrating a mastery of MCAD applications (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO)
  • Generating Engineering Change Orders to maintain engineering documentation.
  • Incorporation of drawing changes of existing product documentation.
  • Creating supporting illustrations and documentation for product assembly fixtures, procedures and proposals.
  • Performing Document Control function by distributing of Engineering Change Orders and Controlled Prints.
  • Performing other tasks, as required, to support engineering and production documentation efforts.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Working with suppliers, machinists, and assembly technicians to have designs fabricated.
  • Receiving feedback from engineers and production team members to refine designs.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or Accredited GED.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience related to mechanical or electrical design.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license.
  • This position will require the ability to gain security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience with mechanical CAD design software (Autodesk AutoCAD, Solidworks, CREO).
  • Two years of experience with PCB design CAD tools (Altium) or similar electrical CAD applications
  • Self-starter that works independently on assigned tasks
  • Experience in document control
  • Good organization skills
  • Working knowledge of Mil Specification and ASME Standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to interface with key internal and external customers
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Associates Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
  • Requires a degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness to design and deliver highly advanced solutions
  • Creative thinking skills, Basic Engineering principles, design practices and manufacturing methods/procedures.
  • Experience in designing cable/connector harnesses & fixtures for production.
  • Knowledge/Experience working in the defense industry.
  • Active DOD clearance.

Salary Range: Designer III: $36.77 - $53.35 per hour. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
