Job Summary

Milwaukee Public Schools seeks exceptional Instructional Coach: PBIS candidates who are highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a research-based systems approach for supporting the behavioral needs of all students. PBIS is a school-wide framework designed to enhance the capacity of schools to effectively educate all students, with the goal of adopting, expanding and sustaining the use of evidenced based practices. Each coach is responsible for guiding PBIS and Building Intervention Team meetings, conversations, and activities at all assigned schools. The coach meets regularly with school staff to facilitate procedures, model effective student interventions, and consult on the implementation process. Coaches may also engage in cross-departmental/cross-office collaborative efforts to support the implementation of school-based and/or districtwide initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful, fully licensed experience as a teacher is required.
  • A current valid Teacher or Pupil Services license with DPI is required.
  • Experience facilitating a school's climate or building intervention team meeting is preferred.
  • Experience in and evidence of engaging in data analysis and implementing practices based on data-driven decision-making is preferred.
  • Experience in and evidence of developing and facilitating school-based and/or districtwide professional development is preferred.
Responsibilities

  • Provides coaching and technical assistance with the three-tiered PBIS framework
  • Ensures schools are implementing Tier I universal supports and practices effectively, intentionally, and consistently
  • Engages with schools in the continuous improvement process
  • Provides coaching and feedback to PBIS and Building Intervention Teams, as well as classroom teachers in need of individualized support with the essential elements of PBIS
  • Coaches and co-facilitates school-based meetings when needed
  • Provides ongoing technical support and training
  • Acts as a liaison with district departments
  • Assists in and completes data collection and analysis with schools
  • Assists schools in sustaining the PBIS framework at fidelity as measured by national research-based tools
  • Attends, develops, and facilitates school-based and districtwide professional development for school leaders and school staff
  • Commits to ongoing professional development in the areas related to PBIS, trauma sensitive schools, restorative practices, mindfulness, and other approaches within the PBIS framework
  • Provides guidance and support with a school's Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP)
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan
  • Other duties as assigned

All jobs will be on the 200-day calendar.
