Job Description: Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Manager for our Blade Repair Shop in Grand Prairie, TX. You will be responsible for the day-to-day and end-to-end operation of the Blade Repair Shop to ensure safe maintenance operations and compliance with all company, FAA and governmental safety rules and regulations, including the airworthiness. - Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Blade Repair to ensure costs, quality, on time delivery and safety
- Ensure safe maintenance operations and compliance with all company, FAA and governmental safety rules and regulations, including the airworthiness.
- Define the strategy and provides capital budget requirements to the MRO Director for the Blade Repair Shop
- Manage P&L, repair & overhaul investment project costs/schedule; assure that facilities are adequate for accomplishing Company Business Plan Goals & Objectives.
- Define and deploy transformation actions to improve performances (competitiveness & lead-time)
- Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports strategic initiatives.
- Works closely with the Managers of Design Office and Procurement to identify and overcome obstacles so that established goals are met. Create dashboard for drumbeat managing progress.
- Implement reporting systems, which ensure a smooth workflow with effective manpower utilization, ability to track work in process and the identification and resolution of major problem areas.
- Responsible for work scheduling, directing the priorities and activities
- Ensure that the department and staff are able to provide the manpower, facilities, equipment, and tooling necessary to meet operational goals and that this effort represents efficient utilization of the allocated workforce in meeting ongoing required maintenance.
- Review and respond to Maintenance delays, process and/or performance deviations and system problems. Develop and implement changes to eliminate recurrence. Implement tools to proactively manage bottlenecks, applying continuous improvement methodologies
- Create, maintain and reports metrics (KPIs) for the industrial performance ensuring goals are tracked and deviations identified and corrected in a timely manner
- Ensure that all procedures within area of responsibility are maintained current, and followed and that a well-defined working relationship is established with cross-functional team, such as QA, Warehouse, etc. in order to maintain the requirements of ISO 9001 and FAR 145, DCMA 8210
- Responsible for establishing and managing operational expenses within budget (OPEX)
- Proactively monitors and manages labor hours per project to ensure proper labor utilization is achieved
- Support quality audits (both internal and external) and is responsible to conduct root cause analysis for any process deviation and to implement the pertinent corrective actions to mitigate and/or eliminate within required timeframe of the finding
- Retain responsibility for components sent overseas for repair (PLB or AHD) by tracking TAT, requesting regular status and escalating as needed to ensure AHI's customers are accurately and timely updated on status and estimated ship date.
Leadership and Team Management: 30%
- Select qualified personnel for all positions to ensure consistent compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and accepted industry practices.
- Direct Blade Repair teams and interfaces to ensure that they carry out all maintenance activities safely, on time and within budgetary requirements.
- Assigns and monitors work of subordinates, including training and coaching; conducts ongoing performance planning and appraisals; hiring, transferring, promoting, or terminating employees, and recommending actions, following AHI's consequential management policy.
- Communicates and administers corporate policies and goals to assigned personnel to ensure a continuing understanding of Airbus Helicopters commitment
- Identify the needs for and initiate the action to provide both management & technical training as required to repair & overhaul staff. Maintain skills matrix & training plan up to date.
- Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction. Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations; make recommendation for salary increases (promotion, merit, and economic adjustment), transfers, hires, and disciplinary actions (terminations).
- Ensure business continuity y actively cross training team members and developing their capabilities
- Assure shop safety, manage all PPE and FOD policies and follow corrective actions with PPS
- Live up Airbus values and enable speak-up.
Plan the Activity: 25%
- Provide the necessary information and tools to create a quotation including: estimated cost, and guaranteed TAT delivery date.
- Schedule the work and define expected delivery date to reach OTD target. Manage priorities.
- Establish the 18 month forecast (Industrial & financial) of assemblies by model on an annual basis and review quarterly, with the Global Supply Chain. Develop the tools needed to improve its accuracy and ease of creation.
- Establish workload/capacity analysis to anticipate any additional resources needs
- Define a robust strategy to manage missing parts and align with prioritization needs
- Responsible to provide status update on Operational WIP & TAT to both internal and external customers
- Reports & monitors progress on improvement plans, and steers the activities as necessary to meet targets
- Works together with cost accounting, controlling, planning & supply chain to assure forecast activities are executed and adhered to.
- Works together with Mgr. of Business Office to establish pricing policies, annual price catalogs and decisions on goodwill when customer satisfaction is at risk.
- Utilizes visual management process to drumbeat shop activities and perform weekly team reviews on Operational WIP progress and SQCDP.
Your boarding pass: Experience: Required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the field (performing/supervising) leadership experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Maintenance Repair & Overhaul
- Experience working in international business setting of 3 years or more
Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma experience / greenbelt or blackbelt certification
- 3 or more years managing a P&L of $5M or higher
- 5 or more years of experience o Airbus Helicopters Range
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in aviation (performing/supervising) management experience.
