Job Summary:
|
This position will work to foster a healthy, safe, and rewarding environment for all Cancer Center employees. As part of its operational function, this position will manage day-to-day employee relations functions, including, but not limited to: employee support, onboarding and offboarding functions, wellness programs development and implementation, conflict resolution, adverse action, policy development, adherence and implementation, and consulting on equitable hiring practices. This position will also be expected to participate in recruitment functions for the Center as they pertain to University Staff, Cancer Center Members and administrative appointments. The individual selected for this role will need to have strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability for analytical problem solving and mediation. This position is expected to maintain a regular onsite presence to be a visible resource to staff and leadership. Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution (50%)
- Provide onsite support, navigation and guidance in the resolution of complex employee (faculty and staff) performance issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of constructive methods, processes, applicable federal, state and Regent laws/regulations and providing options for resolving conflicts and improving work relationships and the work environment.
- Liaise with Cancer Center HR, Central HR, the School of Medicine and University Legal regarding all allegations of violations of the University's Anti-Violence Policy, Bullying, Conflict of Interest, and other policies.
- Work with University Legal, Employee Relations, and Risk Management to implement and update current policies, laws and guidance and tailor their application to Cancer Center policies and practices where appropriate and acceptable.
- Stay apprised of equitable hiring practices and is available for consultation with hiring officials.
- Assists in the development, adaptation, and implementation of training courses on generalist HR topics such as performance management, providing feedback, and team building for members of the Center.
- Serve as a Cancer Center liaison to CU Employee Services, Central Employee Relations, the Office of Adaptable Resolutions, and the Ombuds Office for employee relations issues, and may collaborate with other HR personnel, the Associate Director of Faculty and Staff Relations and the Learning and Development and HR Managers.
- Duties may include oversight of employee relation activities and their development/integration, as it relates to the strategic plan for the Cancer Center.
Wellness and Cancer Center Culture (45%)
- Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes of the Cancer Center.
- Organize and implement periodic stay interviews, exit interviews and employee engagement efforts, with a strong focus on retention methods.
- Coordinate with supervisory members of the HR unit and Learning and Development unit to strategize, improve process efficiency, and address unit efforts.
- Coordinating with all Cancer Center leads on matters related to their personnel and their related compensation, performance, compression and equity.
- Assess, revise and develop Cancer Center wellness programs and activities.
- Oversee the annual Cancer Center Culture Survey and subsequent activities to address survey results.
Recruitment (5%)
- Routinely evaluate and improve recruitment activities.
- Organize and manage the administrative appointment posting and hiring process for faculty leadership positions.
- Develop a student recruitment program to train the next generation of Cancer Center Administrators.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Intermediate
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field.
- One (1) year of progressive professional experience in employee/organizational relations.
Senior
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field.
- Two (2) years of progressive professional experience in employee/organizational relations.
- Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis, but not for the specific experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher Education human resources experience.
- Academic healthcare experience.
- Master's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
- Certification from a professional HR Association (PHR, SPHR, IPMA).
- Wellness Certificate or Wellness Coaching Certificate.
- Experience working with State Personnel Rules.
- Experience measuring and addressing employee engagement issues.
- Experience with conflict resolution or employee relations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to actively listen and share relevant information, anticipate problems, establish and maintain effective and smooth working relationships, and work effectively with internal and external constituents to satisfy service expectations.
- Demonstrate high accountability to self, the Center and the university through ethical behavior.
- Outstanding customer services skills.
- Knowledge of professional standards, concepts, and practices of addressing performance management issues and training
- Facility with presenting information and trainings.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of State personnel rules.
- Knowledge of university rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with applicable Federal, state and university laws, regulations and policies.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as Intermediate: $47,515-$55,592 Senior: $51,367-$60,100 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
