Job Family Description

Occupational Health and Safety personnel ensure workplace environments comply with health and safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and health hazards. They conduct risk assessments, regular inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. They develop, implement, and train employees on health and safety processes, procedures, and protocols. They ensure organizational compliance with health and safety requirements from regulatory agencies. They review and provide input for hazards and controls in job safety analyses. They investigate incidents, analyze causes, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

Discipline Description

Environmental, safety & health, security & quality (ESH&Q) multidiscipline managers lead efforts to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, promote workplace safety, and protect employee well-being, the public, and the environment. The role involves developing and implementing policies, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating training programs to maintain a healthy safety culture and sustainable work environment.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Interface with all levels of management, across all SRS contractors and DOE in the execution of programmatic responsibilities
- Interpret regulatory/DOE and other requirements and direct their implementation at SRS
- Act as SRS representative for responsible elements to the DOE, regulatory agencies, auditors, internal/external evaluators
and inspectors, DOE and other stakeholders
- Manage and oversee the Program responsibilities and scope
- Accountable for product quality, schedule and budget
- Coaches and effectively communicates to reporting staff
- Engage and support Continuous Improvement activities
- Develop innovative concepts or methods to resolve problems of interpretation or implementation

Required Qualifications

* Eight or more years of experience (YOE) as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus three or more year of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
