Pay rate : $24/ hour.

Job Summary

This temporary position will oversee a Day Works work crew from June to mid-November. The Field Lead position will oversee all job site activities and ensure that participant workers are trained appropriately for their site (ie. personal safety, use of equipment, body mechanics, PPE, reporting of accidents/injuries, etc.). This position ensures that the logistics of the sites are managed (transportation, food, equipment), and keeps in close contact with the Program Manager, Case Managers and Employment Specialists for coordination. This position will shop for food and supplies needed, and prepare lunches as needed.

Primary Duties

  • Supervise all activities on the job site: training personnel to ensure safety and work quality, manage assets and equipment, ensure all needed supplies are on hand, communicate with our participants and DDW management as needed.

  • Perform tasks side by side with participants, maintaining line of sight supervision of all crew members at all times.

  • Transport participants at designated location to begin workday and drop them back off at the conclusion of workday.

  • Keep progress notes and service data up to date in client database daily. Complete all paperwork required in a timely manner.

  • Understand assessment criteria needed to determine employability and note the participants' ability to meet these criteria in client database. Discuss with team at team meetings.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Welcome new participants and organize crew for day labor. Coordinate lunches for workers.

  • Develop good rapport with our participants and provide mentorship, advocacy, and rehabilitation support to individuals experiencing homelessness (and possibly significant disabilities) while working side by side on the job.

  • Connect participants with case managers for relevant health, food/nutrition and shelter resources using trauma informed practices.

  • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents and adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities. Establish and maintain positive relationships with business/city partners.

  • Keep inventory of all tools, checking quality, working condition and cleanliness of each item for DDW. Make note and decide for replacement or acquisition of tools needed and consult with Program Manager to purchase.

  • Keep vehicle cleaned and sanitized daily and in good overall condition. Notify Manager of any maintenance or repair needs as they occur.

  • Attend applicable staff and community meetings.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • 2 years' experience working with persons experiencing hurdles to employment preferred.

  • Lived experience with homelessness, addiction recovery, disability or other challenges welcome.

  • Personal commitment to working within an integrated services model, with emphasis on employment as a key component to ending poverty and homelessness.

  • The candidate for this position would benefit by having experience in:

  • Crisis intervention and trauma informed care practices

  • Supporting individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, addiction, justice involvement and disabilities, in obtaining and retaining employment

  • Understanding mental illness and related behaviors, and how these influence employment situations.

  • A valid driver's license with 3 years of good standing and with no more than 3 points. Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by SSI's automotive carrier.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Excellent communication skill both verbally and in writing

* Basic computer skills including email, MS Office, Data Entry

* Excellent ability to work independently.

* Able to work outside in Colorado weather during all seasons

* Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This is an outdoor position with limited shelter from seasonal weather.

Travel: Daily driving to and from locations, mostly with company vehicles. If you must use your own vehicle for company business, mileage costs will be reimbursed at the approved rate.
