Now Hiring: Cancer Registrar Assistant

Position Summary:

Join our dedicated Cancer Services team as a Cancer Registrar Assistant, reporting directly to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Emergency and Ambulatory Services. In this role, you'll support both the Certified Tumor Registrar and the manager in maintaining the cancer registry and advancing our accredited cancer program. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and prepare for a rewarding career in cancer data management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality while handling medical and cancer registry records
  • Provide clerical support including filing, word processing, and assisting with cancer registry operations and meetings
  • Assist with identifying, abstracting, and entering cancer data using our Impac Registry System
  • Help coordinate Cancer Conferences, including gathering case information, facilitating meetings, and documenting attendance and credits
  • Support the preparation of data for national reporting and accreditation requirements
  • Communicate professionally with physicians, patients, and internal staff

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree in a health-related field
  • Experience: 1-3 years in a cancer registry or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
    • Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
    • Proficiency in basic computer applications and maintaining confidential information
    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a collaborative team
