The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking a talented, highly organized, self-motivated, technical expert to fill the Quality and Standards Engineer position in our Renewables Lifeline Sector. This position is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of Ulteig's Quality and Standards programs, enhancing and automating workflows, training team members on tools and processes, and supporting other tasks/initiatives that are critical to the success of one or several business units within the Renewables Lifeline Sector. This will be accomplished by this "Renewables Quality & Standards Engineer" candidate, through the creation and development of platforms and processes with collaboration and input from a team.

What You'll Do

Standards



  • Lead development and maintenance of Ulteig's Renewables design standards including but not limited to automating processes and workflows, drawing standards, standards, and design tools.
  • Develop and execute implementation and training plans for new and updated content.
  • Review, understand, and implement client specific processes and standards as needed on a recurring basis to ensure compliance and client satisfaction.
  • Partner with Ulteig's Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) and Automation Manager to ensure alignment and accuracy of software related standards and supporting tools.


Quality Program



  • Manage and lead the Quality program to ensure the highest level of quality is consistently produced across the department.
  • Maintain quality checklists and processes with automation in mind.
  • Drive consistency across project teams, including support of project audits to measure adherence to quality processes and recommend areas for additional training/improvement.
  • Provide representation on Ulteig's Quality council which includes recurring meetings with the broader council, implementation of new company processes in the department and advocating for specific needs on the council.
  • Correspond regularly with our key clients, including Client Team Leads (CTLs), to provide feedback to the department on internal and external upcoming changes and improvement opportunities.
  • Support documentation of client and geographic considerations standards and good practices.
  • Assist with development, tracking, and reporting of department specific quality metrics.


Department Training



  • Assist with training and onboarding of new and experienced technical staff to learn department and client standards.
  • Partner with Ulteig's Training Committee to develop and present trainings for staff.
  • Provide 1:1 mentorship or training to staff on an as-needed basis.


Project Technical Lead



  • Identify gaps and create plans to enhance multiple topics concurrently with a vision toward how tools and processes will complement each other.
  • Establish a single source of truth for data consolidation working across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide project oversight, including managing engineering scope and maintaining project schedules.
  • Maintain high levels of quality and responsiveness to meet internal and external client requirements in alignment with company expectations.
  • Oversee activities of team members driving results in initiatives.



What We Expect from You:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems from an ABET accredited university or equivalent is preferred.
  • Microsoft Power Platform Certifications (e.g., PL-100, PL-400) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Utilities Scale Renewables Engineering is preferred.
  • Extensive experience automating processes and workflows preferred.
  • Knowledge of Dataverse (formerly CDS) & Power Automate, with experience of integrating Power Apps with SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Azure Services, SQL Server is preferred.
  • Ability to customize applications using JavaScript, Power Fx, and custom connectors where needed.
  • Familiarity with ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) practices using solutions, environments, and DevOps pipelines.
  • Lean process experience is preferred.
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Strong analytic and information management skills.
  • Microsoft PowerApps or similar low code platforms or advanced coding platform proven background required.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public, and external agencies.
  • High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness.
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills.
  • Displays a high level of initiative and explores new opportunities while understanding the risk to the organization.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty.
  • Proficient in Revit preferred.
  • Ability to train others is required.
  • Previous experience working with or for Utility scale Renewables is highly preferred.
  • Technical expertise in at least one of the following Substation design disciplines: Physical, Protection & Control, and/or Civil/Structural is a bonus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and partner with team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functioning teams
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must have permanent work authorization to work in the US

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $108,000 - $146,000
