Manager, Credit & Collections
Hybrid Within Florida

Your role in our success will be:

The Manager Credit and Collections is responsible for credit inquiries, approving credit terms, and collection of delinquent accounts. Responsible for establishing, implementing, and monitoring Credit and Collections policies and procedures for electric and natural gas customers that align with: regulatory requirements, strategic goals, capabilities of the SAP CRM platform, and the specific needs of the customer base. Responsible for disconnection processes and ensures the efficient prioritization of daily disconnect activities.

What you'll be working on:



  • Maintains current knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Act, state and federal laws and regulations applying to credit granting, bankruptcy, and collections activities. (Florida, Maryland, and Delaware)
  • Maintains best-in-class arrears balances and bad debt write offs through development of credit and collections strategy, policies and procedures while maintaining positive customer relations.
  • Knowledge of residential, commercial, industrial and governmental customer trends and needs.
  • Monitors arrears balances for the enterprise, reviews accounts prior to disconnection, and reviews finalized accounts, making recommendations to forward to outside agencies for collections. Manages partnership and processes with outside agencies.
  • Direct supervision and leadership of the Collections Team focused on team engagement and development that align with enterprise strategic Goals, and leadership expectations.
  • Responsible for data requests and monthly reporting on Bankruptcy, Arrears, and Write Off.
  • Works in tandem with Agency resources to ensure customers who qualify for assistance are being directed to the proper agencies.
  • Assists customer service departments on credit and collections decision-making for residential and commercial accounts.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in collections policies in regards to all applicable state laws, including but not limited to FPSC, COMAR, DE regulations, etc.
  • Works with Customers on an as need basis making credit arrangements.
  • Works with our legal team as needed and negotiates settlements on bankruptcies when applicable and follows through with necessary adjustments and notations on the account.
  • Provide support in the resolution of customer complaints to the PSC arising from disconnection and collection processes.



Who you are:



  • Expertise in operation and credit and collection policies and procedures. Also, highly skilled in development and implementation of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Company and Industry.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills with demonstrated ability to organize and schedule work activities cost effectively.
  • Must be adept in the use of standard business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows and SAP).
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions at all levels of the organization and community, including but not limited
    to: managers, clients, customers, and general public.
  • Customer service experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have high level of initiative, excellent problem-solving skills and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Must demonstrate sound communication, business judgement, time management, decision making skills and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a diverse work group/environment.
  • Must be able to handle deadlines and negotiate skillfully.
  • Associates Degree or Equivalent
  • 3 years of customer service experience
  • 5 years of direct experience, preferably in the gas or electric utility industry

Qualifications
Experience
5 years: Gas or utility experience preferred (preferred)
3 years: Customer Service (required)
